It’s the last Thursday of the year, and as usual, we’re participating in Poetic Thursday with Pam and her kitties at Two Spoiled Cats. We look forward to doing this each week and thank them for hosting.
This is the photo they gave us for inspiration. According to Pam, it’s the aftermath of a New Year’s Eve celebration:
And here’s my poem:
At Home
Evidently a good time was had here last night,
judging from the looks of this sad, sad sight.
Folks stood for hours here in the street
while all that trash collected around their feet.
I could never ring in the New Year there;
it’s safer and quieter here at home in my chair.
May we all have a safe, healthy 2023.
~These Days Of Mine~
How perfect!!
I think many agree with your poetic idea of a comfortable New Years celebration!
Happy New Year!
I’m with you – we are usually sound asleep when the new year arrives but I would NEVER be in Times Square in NYC when it does – EVER! I think we all hope the new year brings some resolution to many things; some for ourselves and even more for others.
Happy New Year
Pam
Me too. I’d rather be safe and warm in my own home than out with the masses. Our oldest daughter went to NYC’s Times Square once to celebrate New Year’s Eve with friends. She just wanted the experience one time. Not me!
Agreed…. why bother ??
I have never had the desire to go to Time Square for New Year’s EVER. LOL Very sorry it has to be trashed like that every year.
I agree about celebrating at home – preferably with my head on my pillow. ….And why does celebrating have to involve trashing the location?
