Here’s my poem:
Survivors
My friends are going to the park to play;
Mom said okay, so I’m headed that way.
Barefoot and happy, we played in the dirt
never giving a thought to getting hurt.
Splinters from that old merry-go-round,
bruises and bumps when we hit the ground.
Long before cell phones or trips to the mall,
and somehow, we managed to survive it all.
