Poetic Thursday: Stolen

It’s time again for poetry with our friends, Pam, Teddy and Angel Sammy, at Two Spoiled Cats.  Each week, they host Poetic Thursday, and we love participating.

They gave us this photo last week for our inspiration:

And here’s my poem:

Stolen

I smile as I greet
folks that I meet
as I walk down the street
with my ice cream treat.

Then this gull from the sea
took straight aim at me,
committing a robbery
for everyone to see.

I must confide,
I almost cried.
It made me decide:
next time, eat inside!

  1. HA! Good one………..and while I haven’t been to the beach in forever, I do think I’d be having my ice cream or any food in a nice cool eatery vs. on the boardwalk or beach……”birds of a feather steal food together” !

  2. I think I remember this pic going around a few years ago ?? – almost like The Birds II ; )

  3. The Birds was my thought too, I just hate losing my ice cream.

    Inside is a good idea.

  4. What a fun poem! It is so vivid and I can picture the gull stealing the ice cream, and the recognition that maybe it would be better to eat inside next time.

  5. Excellent poem. Good decision on the part of the poor man to stay inside next time! XOCK, angels Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta & Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer, Kizmet, Audrey & Raleigh

  6. Yes, indeed! Your poem nails it. When we were in Oatman, Arizona a few years back, the wild burros who roam through the town try to snatch any goodies you might be holding. I actually had a bit of a tug of war when one tried to get my bag of cashews out of my hand!
