Poetic Thursday: Canal Fest

Welcome to another Thursday and another poem. Each week, our friend, Pam, and her kitties Teddy and Angel Sammy host Poetic Thursday.  And we almost always participate.

This is the photo they gave us for this week’s inspiration:

And here’s my poem:

Canal Fest

Canal Fest is today: it’s time to go.
Boat’s on the trailer, it’s ready to tow.

We’ll all raft up and walk boat to boat:
All sizes, all colors, just so it floats.

If you need to leave early, you’re out of luck,
’cause for the rest of the day, we’re all stuck!

I’m really not certain, but my research shows that this may be a photo from Canal Fest in the Netherlands. My first thought when I saw it was: what do you do if you have an emergency and need to leave?? Guess you call and Uber and walk across the boats to get to the street!

  1. Good job! We’ve been to the Netherlands and there are canals everywhere – I suppose when they’re part of your life you don’t mind being prepared to PARTY on the water too and as for the necessities of life (!) it’s anybody’s guess how they handle it! LOL

    Hugs, Pam

  2. That photo makes me think the same as you – how to get out?? Your poem surely fits though.

  3. Reminds me of the line going to the summit of Mt. Everest !

  4. I thought about the necessities of life too. I think I’d wait until the crowd left. I don’t like crowds on land, much less on a canal…. Appropriate poem for the scene.
