The Beauty

Our weather has been so nice recently.  The low humidity has made for beautifully clear skies. So I decided to share a few of my favorite photos of late.

Sunrise at home a couple of weeks ago.

Amazing reflections at the marina just after sunrise yesterday morning.

On a recent trip to the Outer Banks, Motor Man and I were amazed at all the contrails. We always enjoy our rides on the beach, but having such a pretty day was a bonus.

Returning from the beach, we drove through the tiny village of Duck and stopped to get this picture of an anchored sailboat at sunset.

I had finished writing this post last night, when I read one just published by my blogging friend, Beth Anne (It’s Just Life).  In her post, she mentioned the tragedy in Paris, but wrote that, in events like that, she looks for those helping the ones who are hurt. Although there is much evil in our world, we need to remember that everything isn’t bad. She has hope, and she chooses to focus on the good.

After reading her post, I wondered if, subconsciously, that’s why I decided to post photos of clouds, sunrises and sunsets today.  Perhaps, without even realizing it, I chose to share a little beauty, in contrast to the sadness of recent events.

Random Five Friday

The first RFF of the New Year!

1.) When I was a a little girl, my sister, June, would occasionally knit a sweater for me. Then she’d use the leftover yarn to knit a coat for my Barbie doll. (Sadly, when I was about 13, I gave away all my Barbies and clothes.) This year, for Christmas,  June gave me a pair of hand-knit socks.  Mmmmm…toasty!

2.) A few days ago, the morning sky was beautifully amazing with contrail X’s.

3.) Do you think Gypsy has officially outgrown her bed?  She continues to ignore the brand new, larger one that Santa brought her.

4.) Update on the tablet that Motor Man and I got for Christmas: the Verizon store didn’t have the protective case for it the day we bought it, so they ordered it and had it sent to us.  After two days of trying to figure out how to put it on the tablet, we gave up and went back to Verizon to watch them have them do it.  Motor Man said they all probably had a good laugh when we left the store.

5.) Ever since we went sleigh riding in Townshend, Vermont last year around this time, I’ve kept the town as a favorite in my weather app.  This morning, it’s four degrees there. Yesterday, they had 3.5 inches of snow, and another inch is forecast for today. Is it possible to be homesick for a place you’ve only been once (for two days) in your life?

Sunrise Saturday

Another week has flown by, and it’s time again for Sunrise Saturday. This sunrise was from June 20. In this first picture:  an egret taking flight (bottom left corner).

The egret AND a contrail in this one.

Happy Saturday, whether you’re grounded….

…or taking flight.

Lookin’ Up

Most of you are aware of my fondness for sunrises and sunsets. Today I’m sharing a few pictures that prove you never really know what you might see when you look to the skies.

My caption for this photo is: “Fly Me To The Moon”.

I took this next picture because of the interesting contrails. But look closely in the top left corner. (You may need to click to enlarge the picture.) I didn’t realize it was there until the photos were downloaded to the computer.  A nice surprise, I thought.

And who doesn’t love a rainbow?

Remember to look up! You never know what you might see.
