Just Kitties

It’s been a while since any of the kitties have been featured here on These Days. And apparently, their little feelings have been hurt. So today, it’s all about the kitties:

One day last week, Motor Man had gotten home before I did. When I walked in, this was the cozy scene:

And Gypsy, enjoying a bag …

…as only a kitty can.

Marshall often shares pictures with me of his three kitties. He said he caught Chessie right in the middle of a good “scratching session”:

This is his kitty, Snugg, who obviously knows when his picture is being taken:

And Screamer, who is also a bit of a “ham”:

Hopefully, the kitties will be happy now with a little time in the spotlight. And I must say that I enjoy posting about them much more than…..(eek) snakes.

Monday Morning Mews: “That” Look

Happy Monday! Gypsy here with the mews.

Today, I just have a photo to share with you.  Motor Mommy snapped it one day last week. I was in “my spot” on Motor Man’s desk, and he was busy…I can’t recall if he was researching horsepower on his computer or on the phone talking with someone about horsepower or thinking about horsepower….but he wasn’t paying any attention to ME.

Now, you may wonder why Motor Mommy didn’t just rub my tummy. Well, that’s because HER time to rub my tummy is when she first arrives at the office. I won’t even let her walk, because I lie down on the floor right in front of her.  Then she usually stoops down to rub me, or sometimes she even sits down on the floor with me.

But, after that, it’s Motor Man’s attention that I’m seeking. And, on this particular day, at this moment, he had horsepower on his mind, not Gypsy.

So, I just had to give him “that” look, and he knew that I really, really, really needed a tummy rub.

Works every time. (wink, wink)

Photos By Marshall

For the most part, photos I take with my cell phone never really seem to be all that great. But, Marshall, on the other hand, takes some really nice pics with his phone.  He shares many of them with me by text.  So today, I thought I’d post some of his recent captures.

First, a rather patriotic planting.

Marshall’s kitty, Snugg.  You probably recall seeing pictures of him here in the past. He’s quite a ham and, apparently, a camera hog.

A new kitty has come to live with Marshall.  He’s quite a talker, so his name is officially “Screamer”. But, as those of you with pets know, we can turn a name around to be something quite different. “Screamer” became “Screamer, Deemer”, and now he’s just “Deems”. He, like Snugg, seems to know when his picture is being taken.

And finally, Marshall caught this shot of Snugg and his sisfur, Chessie (aka “Chesmire”) on the deck. Apparently, Chessie had just finished up a treat. And according to Snugg’s expression, it was HIS treat.

Thanks for sending these, Marshall, and allowing me to share them with my readers.

Monday Morning Mews: What’s THIS?!

Good morning, efurryone. Gypsy here with possibly some quite alarming mews.

One morning last week, we were having heavy rain in our area, and Motor Mommy arrived at the shop wearing her rain boots.  Of course, I immediately had to inspect:

Now, I’ve heard “RUMORS” of someone named Sundae…..and I suspect that’s another kitty.  But, let me tell ya, my nose does NOT lie…. those boots have been in the presence of another feline.

Hmmm….this is an interesting development.  Should I be upset about this?  Purrhaps….but I can’t help but be curious about this other kitty in my pawrents’ lives.

Stay tuned…

Monday Morning Mews

Happy May 1st, efurryone! It’s Sundae AND Gypsy both here this morning, and we have two furry special guests with us on the Mews today.

If you’ve been a regular reader here, you will remember Snugg and Chessie. They’re the kitties belonging to Motor Mommy’s son, Marshall.  He shared some photos of them with Motor Mom recently, so we thought we’d invite them over today to be part of the Mews.

First, here’s Chessie, on the porch, enjoying some springtime flowers.

And her brofur, Snugg, hanging out and chilling inside under a rocker. Obviously, Snugg is the resident comedian and provides Marshall with lots of photo ops.

Thanks, guys, for joining us today.   Keep posing for those cute pics for Marshall, and we’ll share them here with our readers.

Random Five Friday

Today’s post is the final Random Five Friday for 2016. So difficult to believe that, in a few days, we’ll be writing 2017.

1.  AND, on that first day of 2017, my sweet Motor Man will be celebrating his birthday.   Happy Birthday, MM.  Love you SO much! Photo credit to our dear friend Pam, One Spoiled Cat. We were having lunch with Pam and her husband, Dave,at historic Hanover Tavern in Hanover, Virginia, parts of which date from the 1700’s. (Pam took this right after Motor Man commented: “Can you imagine how many drunks have stumbled up those steps through the years?”)

2.) A couple of years ago, my friend, Bev, and I decided that, rather than exchange gifts at Christmas, we’d each just each fill a stocking for the other. We’ve bent the rules a little, though, and now, rather than stockings, we use pretty totes, decorative boxes, etc.  It’s fun to be on the lookout all year for little things we know the other one will like. This year, Bev filled one of those pretty boxes for me with all sorts of useful, fun items. And, a very special gift that I will cherish. You may recall that one of Bev’s and my favorite past-times is walking along the shore, looking for treasures. Unlike me, Bev often uses her findings to create pretty little pieces of art. And then she shares them with her relatives and friends. In the nativity scene pictured below, the shell was purchased, but the sea glass is some that was found on our walks on the beach.  Bev said she had used all the pearls in her craft supplies on other nativities, so she went to the thrift shop and bought a cheap inexpensive pearl bracelet to finish mine.  The little findings for the star were also from old jewelry. Notice the halo for Baby Jesus, crafted from jewelry wire. Thanks, Bev. This is an easel I just happened to have on hand; after finding a more suitable one, I think this will be on display year-round.

3.) Earlier this week, I downloaded all the pictures off Motor Man’s flip phone:  all 364 of them.  It had reached the point that he had such little storage space left, he couldn’t receive texts. And in the motor world, receiving texts from other engine builders is vital.  And of the 364 pictures, the subject in 223 of them was….um, not motors, but rather?

4.) Late yesterday afternoon, a cold front came through our area, bringing strong winds and amazing clouds. It also made for a gorgeous sunset sky,

…which dramatically changed over the course of about 30 minutes.

5.) Oh, and what’s that sound?  That would be the beach, calling us for one more 2016 trip.

Happy 2017. May it be a happy, healthy one for us all.

The Kitties Have Spoken

I have recently been advised by both Sundae and Gypsy that they feel they are not being adequately recognized on this blog.

So, today is kitty day here on These Days.

Every evening, Sundae and I retire to the recliner where I attempt to read the paper, while Sundae turns and twists and turns and twists and finally curls up in my lap.  I recently snapped this close-up of her during one of her “lap times”.

Meanwhile Gypsy continues to rule the office and wrap all our visitors (and us) around her paw. And she recently discovered the relaxing magic of a kitty brush.

Hopefully, now the kitty egos will be satisfied for awhile. Purrhaps I should plan posts about our fur-babies more often.
