Sunrise Saturday From The Road

Remember yesterday I asked if you could stand one more post about our trip to Strasburg last weekend? That statement may have been a bit premature.

You see,  I forgot that I wanted to share these sunrise pictures taken that morning from the road. We traveled up State Route 10, and were in Hopewell, Va. right around the time of sunrise. As we approached the bridge over the Appomattox River, I had my camera ready.

A few miles, and about 20 minutes later, we crossed the James River, and I managed to get this shot from that bridge.

And this one, taken just a few seconds later.

As is so often the case, the sky changed dramatically in a short length of time.

Oh, and by the way, there may be a future barn post (or two) from pictures taken during our outing last weekend too. So be prepared.

It’s the trip that keeps on giving.

  1. LOL….the trip that keeps on giving is right – I think about it all the time myself and how much fun it was to be with you and JR! You sure got some wonderful photos – that sunrise is truly spectacular…..

  2. I don’t think it is possible to get tired of the sunrise/sunset shots! These are beautiful…the last time I crossed in that area, I was driving, so there was no way to get photos…and mine wouldn’t have been sunrise or sunset – just river shots!

  3. How can you ALWAYS be at the right place at the right time? Beautiful shots — I love rivers… 🙂

  4. Such wonderful pictures will remain a reminder of a great trip! Never tire of sunrise/sunset pictures!

  5. Seems to me your blog is the gift that keeps on giving to your readers. Thanks for always sharing! 🙂

  8. I’m ready for more Strasburg! Looks like a great – and photogenic – place. And once more, it’s the progression that counts with these, too !

  9. I love trips that keep on giving when it comes to reading and writing blogs. 🙂

  10. Gorgeous photos! In answer to your question…….my husband is from Chesapeake and my Dad (Navy) was stationed in Norfolk when I was a teenager, and that’s how I met my husband. We have lived in Chesapeake, Portsmouth and most recently Suffolk. My Mom and one of my sisters live in Wakefield. We had planned to retire to Bedford Co. Va, but our daughter and her husband and our only grandson live here in Tucson, and we moved to Tucson a year ago to be close to them. What town do you live in? Are you in Hopewell? We miss Virginia a lot, but are happy here, especially because of the kids. Hope you have a blessed and wonderful Easter!
