Just In Time For Mother’s Day

Late Friday, just around sunset, Motor Man and I were treated to a special show taking place in our yard.

As he was walking by a window in our bedroom, something outside caught his eye.  He immediately called me over and quietly said: “…the tiniest fawn I’ve ever seen.”

That evening, I shared this photo on Facebook.

mom and baby

We’re fairly certain that the little one had just been born. I took this video, and, unfortunately, it’s a little shaky in spots, so I apologize for that. I hope the cuteness factor will overrule the shakiness.

Also, we call the mom “Cripped Mama Deer”.  She has lived in our neighborhood for at least ten years, and although it’s painful to watch her walk, she seems to manage okay with her disability.  And… every year, she becomes a mom again, this year, just in time for Mother’s Day.

(Be sure your speakers are on. The song I used for the video is “I Get To Be The One” by J.J. Heller)

So, Happy Mother’s Day to you, Crippled Mama Deer.  We’re so happy to have seen your new little one so soon after  it arrived.

  1. Adorable little one……I remember the deer from past posts – bless her heart, she’s adjusted and still raises her family every year like Moms do. Hope this little one has a long and happy life thanks to a good start from Mom!

  16. This is absolutely enchanting. I’ve never seen a more beautiful proud Doe Mama nor a more precious Fawn. Mother’s Day watching a new fawn is a perfect way to celebrate the day. Great video.
(If you don’t mind my asking, Where do you store your videos to use in your blog?)
I hope your Mother’s Day was wonderful!

    • Thanks, E.C. Do you mean where do I store videos on my computer?

      • No, I mean on the web. I use youtube for my video host. I upload my videos there and then embed them into my blog post.
I wouldn’t mind trying another host. I was wondering who your video host on the web is?

  17. I’m not familiar with a video host, E.C. My videos are all on my computer. ??

    • Cool. You’re lucky not to have a video host.
I too keep my videos on my computer, but I also have to use a video host (YouTube) to store some of them on the web so they’ll show up if I use them in a post.
      Thanks for answering my questions.
      Have a great weekend.

  18. So so sweet! The song was just perfect.
