(Portions of today’s post will be a repeat to my Facebook friends, and for that I apologize. Today’s post has a little more detail.)
One day last week, Motor Man and I had an out-of-town business trip. And it just happened to take us by one of my favorite antique malls. And we just happened to stop. And I just happened to find a treasure.
I had seen this little cabinet in there a few months ago on my last trip. And since that time, I had decided on a use for it, as well as the perfect spot for it in our home. I just had to wait to see if it were still available.
And it was.
It’s only about 31 inches tall, and the drawers are 11 inches square. Of course, I have no way of knowing its original use. However, a former schoolmate, with extensive knowledge about antiques, commented that the drawer pulls were similar to those used on filing cabinets in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s.
I cleaned it up, used vintage-print paper to line the drawers, and now am using it for jewelry.
I’m still experimenting with decorating the top of the cabinet. For now, it’s a tiny quilt (purchased several years ago in Lancaster, Pa.) and a small old basket.
I sure am glad that little cabinet waited for me.

I’m glad your cabinet waited for you too – it’s a great find and using it as a jewelry cabinet is a brilliant idea. Love the little quilt and basket on top – you may even find that you change up what gets the honor of sitting on top from time to time……it’s a fun spot to use to highlight a special treasure or two!

Thanks, Pam. Oh, I’m sure the items on top will be changed out frequently! Another spot to decorate!
Great fine – perfect for a jewelry armoire!!
I must get me one something that resembles that jewelry holder! Mine are strewn everywhere in my drawers! No wonder I lose a pair a week. Haha
I’m glad too, Dianna. It’s perfect!
It’s very cute… I love it! Glad it got a good home!
What a wonderful treasure. So glad that it waited for you! You’ve definitely found the perfect spot for it.
Love finding little treasures like this! As you know…there are many antique places in and around Lancaster. We found a great one near my home town of Boyertown. David was looking for a mission style desk for his new office. They had 3! The problem was convincing them to sell. Turns out both husband and wife are hoarders. But we got 2 of the desks along with a few other small things and our favorite find was a wooden frame for a kayak. It was part of a kit for the Boy Scouts that came with canvas to cover it with. It’s going to hang on our wall of the great room over looking the lake in TN. We can’t wait to hang it!
What fun to go back and see that sweet little cabinet was waiting just for you! And what a great idea to use it for jewelry. Perfect. 🙂
It waited for you because it knew you had just the right spot for it !
Such a great find !
I love your cabinet. It’s a handsome crafted piece of work. I agree with the commenters that said the cabinet was waiting for you. I think it knew it was meant to be loved and adored by you. Great find. 🙂
This is so cute! I love antiques, and anything vintage 🙂 This piece is perfect for jewelry!
WoW! What a great find!
I saw something similar in a 2nd hand shop in New Westminister here in Vancouver. (Vancouver has so many more places with great vintage stuff) and I have been kicking myself that I did not get it! But I never would have thought of jewelry! What a magnificent idea.

Dianna, I love it. Wonderful purchase and use of for sure.
I’m glad I got to read the rest of the story, and that the cabinet was still waiting on your return!
