Poetic Thursday: Birthday Cruise

Today, I’m participating, as I do every week, in Poetic Thursday, hosted by Pam and her ‘boys” at Two Spoiled Cats.

This is the photo Pam provided for inspiration this week. Isn’t it magical?

And here’s my poem:

Birthday Cruise

The water’s like glass, so let’s ‘sail’ away,
just ‘round the harbor, not out to the bay.

A magical night we’ll spend out here
on a cruise to celebrate another year.

This is a perfect place to watch the sun set;
the start of an evening we won’t ever forget.

Later, we’ll keep our eyes to the skies,
and watch for the “Strawberry Moon” to rise.

It’s a birthday boat with a ‘candle’ on top;
my wish? That, for a moment, time would just stop.

A night that’s as special as it can be,
spent with my love. Happy Birthday to me.

This was an especially fun poem to write… for my birthday!
