It’s Beginning To Look A Lot…

…like Christmas!

Motor Man and I have been busy doing a little decorating for Christmas. I think most everyone started doing that earlier than usual this year.

Since it’s one of our favorite winter pastimes, our mantel has a ‘sleigh ride’ theme.  There’s a horse and sleigh on either side of the picture, and the sign reads: “It’s Lovely Weather For a Sleigh Ride Together With You”.  The little horse, in front of the tree on the left, was painted on a rustic piece of wood by a local artist. Motor Man made the frame on the far right from two horse shoes, and there’s a photo inside of the two of us on a sleigh ride a few years ago.

For several years, we’ve had just a small, pencil Christmas tree. The topper this year is an oversized “Snowman’s hat”. Sundae approves from her perch on a nearby chair.

The sled is a recent ‘pickers market find’, and Motor Man cleaned it of all its barn dust. The child-sized ice skates are old, and most of the greenery is from our yard. I made the bow from a flannel type ribbon.

But some of the greenery was left over from the tree we used for our front door wreath.

In an area of our side yard, we have an old ‘tobacco stick’ fence section, which is decorated with its own little basket of greenery and a festive bow.

And last, but certainly not least, Sundae, once again this year, is in her favorite spot: under the tree. (And not coincidentally, directly over a heat vent.)  This was taken the night we decorated the tree, and she was already eyeing that little stocking in the foreground.  Since then, we’ve played a daily game of me putting it back on the tree, and her removing it.  Hopefully soon there will be some presents wrapped and under the tree. But we’ll be sure to leave her spot free.
