Last Saturday morning, I saw two Great Egrets out near the water’s edge. It was right around sunrise, so golden hour added a beautiful glow to these elegant birds.
I knew they were on the lookout for breakfast, so I was ready with the camera. Soon, the one on the right caught this tasty little morsel. Yum.
And the egret on the left decided that it wanted in on that treat. This was the result:
Needless to say, I consider that my ‘once in a lifetime shot’. But wait, there’s more:
I just kept snapping:
Until one flew away.
It was a good time to be standing at the window with the camera and the right lens.

Egrets are very “majestic”……those two had a bit of a disagreement over the snack but they remained elegant in that golden light. Good thing you had your camera ready.
