Poetic Thursday: Homegrown

It’s Thursday again, which means time for poetry with Pam and her boys at Two Spoiled Cats.

This is the photo we were provided for our inspiration:

And here’s my poem:

Homegrown

A little veggie stand with a sign: “Homegrown”,
offering the fruits of the seeds they’ve sown.

Potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and beans,
and a few antiques: it’s a rustic scene.

Old bushel baskets from the loft in the barn,
and  flowering plants to add to the charm.

I think we’ll stop; what do you say?
Honor system, I guess, there’s no one to pay!

  1. Great poem! There are a lot of stands around here that are offering their produce for free…..but I have a feeling since there’s a scale in the back of the “wagon” the operator of the stand might just be the one taking the photo!

    Hugs, Pam

  2. You’ve tugged at my heart strings today. I’m ready to go for a drive in search of……the Homegrown stand, Old-Fashioned Honor systems, vintage pieces…..

  3. Sweet! I am ready to start seeing those stands around!

  4. they’re helping someone to the car with a load of veggies … & maybe an antique or two : )
