Several weeks ago, we bought pumpkins and placed them in different places around the yard.
I didn’t realize it until this week, but apparently, a miracle took place. The deer either hadn’t noticed or hadn’t been interested in the pumpkins.
That changed a few days ago.
I glanced out our bedroom window and noticed this one devouring that pumpkin.
And apparently, after the pumpkin tasting, it was time for the salad bar liriope.
It appears that our guests enjoy the autumnal flavor on our buffet.

HAHAHA…our liriope is the first thing to disappear when the deer come through our yard – well – that is after they visit the bird feeder for their “appetizer” before the big meal! I didn’t know they’d eat pumpkin but they will eat almost anything when they’re hungry. Our porch pumpkin will go down in the woods soon for squirrels AND deer to enjoy!

Your deer obviously like a ‘balanced’ diet – having a little greens with their pumpkin. We have teachers here at school who collected leftover pumpkins to share with animals (chickens & goats) at their homes. I LOVE seeing them enjoy your buffet. :0)
I bet they weren’t expecting to find pumpkin on the menu !!
“Try it ! Yoiu’ll like it !”
A change of menu is good for anyone!!
Always a treat at your salad bar! We tossed our pumpkins in the wooded space behind our house for all the critters to eat.
