Poetic Thursday: House For Rent

Time for poetry to finish out the year with our friends, Pam, Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats.

Our inspiration photo this week is this gorgeous one:

And here is my poem:

House For Rent

House for rent:
heaven sent.

Hand in hand,
shells in sand.

Lullabies,
then morning skies.

Ocean blue…
I love you.

Week is done:
it was fun.

So long, sea foam,
time to go home.

Although not nearly as fancy as the one in the above photo, I was reminded of this beach house at Corolla. This is “Laughing Gull”, and when there’s an extreme high tide, it is practically IN the ocean.

  1. Great lines. Love both houses, and whereas I enjoy Virginia’s gorgeous of seasons, it makes me yearn for summer and toes in the sand!

Happy New Year to you and Motor Man!

  2. That is a great poem. How nice it would be to live “on” the ocean.

  3. Laughing Gull looks a lot more “stable” than the one we used for Poetic Thursday but being at/by the beach sounds WONDERFUL right about now. Several people on our blog today googled the house we have in the photo and it turns out it’s well known. It’s known as The Inn at Rodanthe as it was named in the movie based on Nicholas Sparks popular novel, Nights In Rodanthe, starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane and it is the most famous home on Hatteras Island. NC. Here’s the link to the house https://www.outerbeaches.com/hatteras-island/inn-at-rodanthe. Love your poem today – we sure sparked people’s imaginations this week!

I love how your words just float off the tongue with this poem. Love it.

I love how the words roll off the tongue. Good job!

  7. As soon as I saw that picture I thought of the Rodanthe house in the movie. I’ve never seen the movie but read the book. Great poem – says it all about an idyllic vacation.
