Well, it’s Thursday again, so that means poetry with our friends, Pam, Teddy and Angel Sammy at Two Spoiled Cats.
This week’s photo for our inspiration:
And here’s my poem:
Before
On the corner, the old drug store;
a pharmacy, but so much more.
The soda fountain was the hangout spot
after school and after the ‘hop’.
At the back counter, your prescriptions were filled;
with no hi-tech machine to count your pills.
You always saw someone there that you knew,
and caught up on the latest news.
…before the big box chains came to town
and closed the little drug store down.
~These Days Of Mine~
Well done!!
Think about having to count pills out for every prescription!!
I LOVED the soda fountain and atmosphere of those places – still do. Good job on the poem – I thought it would be a lot of fun to use this photo and it has sure brought some :goodies” !!
Pam
More great lines ! – “knew” and “news” ; )
& that’s definitely a Double Kay nut machine right past the stools –
we had one of those at Ben Franklin .. !
Those were the days! I LOVED the atmosphere of those places too. Made me smile again – such great lines to capture the time.
You touched good memories for me with your poetry words.
That’s really good.
