Poetic Thursday: The Dance

Thursday again! Poetry again!  It’s how we celebrate each week with Pam and her ginger kitties at Two Spoiled Cats.

They provided us with this photo for our inspiration this week:

Aw, isn’t that sweet?  Here’s my poem:

The Dance

Her hair’s in curlers, he doesn’t care.
He’s in his underwear, she doesn’t care.

Dancing in slippers on the kitchen floor:
their nightly ritual for 50 years or more,

Good times and bad, such is life.
She’s never regretted being his wife.

The radio plays their favorite old songs;
they visit the past, but don’t linger long.

Their life is full of fun and romance,
and each evening, he asks: “May I have this dance?”

  1. Sweet! I’ve read some precious poems this morning from others who felt the same about this photo. I thought it would be a hit when we chose it and I was sure right. Love ever-lasting…..something we all would like to claim as ours.
