Last night, Motor Man and I attended the Christmas boat lighting on the waterfront in Smithfield at Smithfield Station restaurant and marina.
There wasn’t a lot of participation, but the boats that did take part were looking very festive.
This is a Chesapeake Bay deadrise, and is owned by a friend of ours. In the background is Smithfield Station’s “Lighthouse”. (The Honeymoon Suite is located upstairs at the Lighthouse, and the downstairs is suitable for business meetings.)
The sailboat, Evonne, was just beautiful, and we were told that it took three generators to power all the lights. And I apologize, but I’m not sure what the connection is to Toys for Tots. I took this picture from the Lighthouse, and that’s Smithfield Station Restaurant and Hotel in the background.
Another photo of our friend’s boat, Rainbow Chaser, during the parade. The cleverly designed jellyfish were created with sheer fabrics and strings of lights on umbrellas, and were held by passengers during the parade.
The weather was a little warmer than you’d expect for this time of year…
But everyone was certainly in the Christmas spirit.
