Yuck, Aggie!

Can you stand another post about horses? I promise this one is good for a laugh.

I’ve posted several times in the past about Aggie, the horse that we stop to visit on our trips to and from the Outer Banks.

Earlier this week, we made a quick trip to the OBX and stopped by her pasture. As I was walking the short distance from our truck to her fence, I noticed her head was down and thought she was drinking water.

She was actually eating. I’m not sure what it was (not knowing anything about what you feed horses), but it had the consistency of soupy oatmeal. ย As I walked toward her, treats in hand, she lifted her head, and I saw her lunch dripping from her mouth.

Motor Man captured my reaction.

And a close-up. (Of her, not me.)

Oh, okay, if you insist.

I put a few treats in her dish and we were on our way. Sorry, Aggie, no eating from my hand on this trip.

  15. Ha…very funny! I meant to tell you when we were traveling home from the Outer Banks after vacation – I saw her! I had forgotten to look for her on the way going or coming home….but just happened to spot her when we drove by. She was by the fence, and of course it made me think of you and smile ๐Ÿ™‚

I am sure it was not a pretty picture of her eating! I guess she wasn’t expecting you. You both gave good expressions.

  17. Hehehehe! Drooled oats not your favorite? ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. We often stop by to feed Aggie too and have noticed she can slobber over things she really likes ….such as Pink Lady apples!! I am not sure what she was eating the day of your last adventure with her but I hope it was something good for her …;p I have seen things like cheerios floating in her water and pieces of crackers etc. You do know she is not cared for properly and the bulk of her food comes from passer-byer’s like us. Sad, but true. We even have been bringing water to her lately since her bucket’s been dry each time now. A wonderful lady from The Animal Assistance League does more for Aggie than anyone. She truly cares for this wonderful white horse and knows her history and why she is treated the way she is. Not a pretty story but Aggie is a and has many devoted friends! Thank you for caring and please remember to stop by and bring healthy treats this winter as it is cold now and she needs us more than ever!!! Thanks! Nancy Lee
