Random Five Friday

For the last Friday in April, how about some randomness?

1.) Yesterday morning, when I opened the curtains, I knew the time for a sunrise picture would be very brief. Sure enough, a minute or two after I took this, the sun was behind the clouds.

2.) The hummies are back! Time to stock up on sugar.

3.) Also time to plant flowers, and I’m hoping the deer haven’t yet acquired a taste for marigolds. In the background are garden phlox. If you look closely, you’ll see that they’re covered in netting, because, apparently phlox are considered a delicacy in the deer world.

4.) You may recall that, back in December when Motor Man and I were in Indianapolis for a racing industry trade show, I was able to meet Matthew and his mom, Mary.  Matthew is a very talented artist and is inspired by some of my  photos here on the blog.  Next week, I will share some amazing news about him and this sketch that he did from one of my pictures of the Corolla Wild Horses. (Yes, I’m a bit teary-eyed in this photo taken in December.)

5.) The multi-year class reunion that I posted about a few weeks ago is this weekend. Let the memories begin. (No, I wouldn’t want to go back to that time, but I also wouldn’t mind being this wrinkle-free once again.)

What are your randoms today?

  2. That’s a stunning sunrise photo. Your phlox have grown since the last shot but hopefully the deer have realized that that netting means “NOT an all you can eat buffet” !! Hope your reunion is tons of fun. I think we all look back at our high school photos and realize that while our faces may have changed (a lot!), our hearts are still full of hope for our future……….

  3. I love your sunset picture. I was so filled with emotion last night that it took me forever to fall asleep.

  4. I wonder if Matthew would sketch a hummie!!! They are so beautiful!

  5. Great meandering! Sunset was gorgeous, love that blue pail you planted marigolds in (good luck). Greatly looking forward to hearing Mathews good news! And what a sweet, sweet picture of you!! Looking forward to seeing our old, I mean “all” our classmates this weekend. 😊

  6. Beautiful sunrise. Good Luck with keeping the deer out – they are as persistent as squirrels! It was a rainbow morning at my house today – a smile in the sky for me!

  7. Finally a warm sunny day her in TN! Going to go enjoy it!! After a long week of Doctors appointments in Knoxville I deserve it.

Busy weekend planned with a concert at the old TN Theater in Knoxville to see and hear Tommy Emmanuel on Friday night. One of the best guitar players in the world. Sat afternoon going to a Fiddlers Convention in a near by small town. Should be interesting! Sunday going to try a new restaurant on the lake with our neighbors. Hope it’s as good as it sounds.

  8. Random, maybe, but I detect a summer theme running through these (aside from the Christmas tree in the background in pic 4) !

  9. Great randoms yet again! My random for today is that we’re finally getting some warmer weather for a change and the yard is greening up. Last night as I left a church meeting, I smelled the delicious aroma of freshly cut grass. Oh, it was such a joy!

I am glad you made the sunrise in time, so pretty. I am surely hoping the deer and others are kind to your yard this year. The humming bird picture is so cute and they are so much fun to watch I am so looking forward to see everyone tomorrow night. See you soon.

  11. It’s no wonder an artist was inspired – you are a great photographer!
