Recent Smiles

Because, these days, I think we’re all looking for anything that’s pleasant/fun/happy, today I’m sharing some things that have brought me a smile in the past few days.

The first is from the comic strip, Pickles, which is one of my favorites.  Before I share it, let me give you a bit of background as to why Motor Man and I found it so funny. A couple of years ago, we were leaving a local fast-food restaurant. As we were walking from the building, Motor Man commented about their busy two-lane drive thru, and said: “It looks like a double-file restart” (racing term).  I looked to see what he was commenting on….and promptly tripped on one of those speed bumps. They really should paint those things bright yellow.  Oh, wait.

Anyway, I treated all those folks in line to a show while they were waiting to pick up their food.

So when I read this comic in last Wednesday’s paper, it made me laugh. And when I told Motor Man, he laughed too.

Another laugh came a few days ago after Motor Man successfully changed out a pump on one of our car wash bays. It was a very hot, humid day, and the job took him a couple of hours. He was so happy that everything worked when he was done.  I just love his cute dance moves….and listen for my giggle at the end when he sprayed water into my open car window.  (Volume up)

And one more smile that came during a recent antique mall visit, when I spotted this old tricycle:

I called Motor Man, who was patiently waiting in the vehicle, to come have a look.  He thought we needed it it was interesting, so we took it down off display.

It seemed to me that the easiest way to get it to the checkout counter was just to ride it. The employees already knew we were planning to purchase it, but it gave them a smile when they saw me riding up on it, with my little spoken ‘beep beeps’.

And, not to be outdone, once we got it home, Motor Man took it for a spin around the driveway. No, we didn’t buy it to ride; we’ll probably use it as a piece of fun ‘yard art’.

“We do not stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing”.  (unknown)

  1. Great blog today! Love the videos. Stay cool today in the 100 degree temps! Not conducive to riding tricycles!

  2. HAHAHA…..well, neither of you will win the tricycle race that’s for sure (!) but it will make a cute bit of yard or maybe front porch art! Love the Pickles cartoon too – MADE for you………:)
