Summer Storm

Although it would be too long, the title of today’s post should really be: “Summer Storm That Blew Around Us”.

Sunday, Motor Man and I had taken a day trip, and just a few minutes after we got home, it looked promising that we would be getting a storm, and hopefully, much needed rain.

I glanced out the window and noticed that sharp contrast we get when the sun is shining, but there are also dark clouds in other parts of the sky.

That contrast was really noticeable on the boats at the marina. And that wind was kicking up the waves.

I took this short video, because the weather seemed to be so threatening.

Although we never want storm damage, we were hoping for some rain. I suppose, as my mom used to say, “the wind got in that storm and tore it apart’. Our whole event lasted about five minutes.  Other areas around us received the rain, but none for us.

Of course, everyone is watching for news about Ian. Right now, our forecast for the weekend is for 2-6 inches of rain, and slightly windy conditions. And we all know that is subject to change.

Our thoughts and prayers will be with those in the storm’s path.

  1. Pretty photos of sky and water……..I think you will probably wind up with some “tide trash” from this storm BUT hopefully no flooding. While I’ll be happy for rain – I can do without wind especially since we’re surrounded with huge trees! We’re keeping everyone in our prayers – Ian is a wicked storm.

  2. That contrast looks so unnatural … and it makes for some great pics !!

  3. What beautiful pictures you caught. We need the rain too. We had just enough to ‘wet a washcloth’. Prayers for those in the eye of the storm too.

Nature can be beauty & beast at the same time. Great pictures and video.

  5. Those are great photos. Sometimes the contrast between bad weather and good in the same photo can be really cool, like the dark clouds and sunshine.
