If you’re like Motor Man and me, you just don’t seem to spend enough time with extended family. Everyone seems to be so busy, it’s hard to take time to get together.
We decided to do a little something about that last week. We invited Motor Man’s nephew, his wife and their two-year-old daughter, Livy, over for pizza. Simple, casual, paper-plate kind of dinner. And it was a good time.
Livy met Sundae. Livy liked Sundae. Sundae wasn’t sure: she isn’t accustomed to such energy and cowered a little whenever Livy came toward her. But she wasn’t uncomfortable enough to leave the room. I think curiosity played a big part in that decision.
After dinner and playtime with Sundae, we headed outside for a little hide-n-seek.
Turning flips with Daddy’s help.
And catching the (cloudy) sunset.

Motor Man and I gave Livy a Beanie Baby giraffe. She’s holding it in this picture. I had to snap the photo quickly, because a two-year old has places to go and things to do. And sitting still for a family picture isn’t high on that list.
Livy’s mom sent me an e-mail later that night. She said that when she was reading Livy her bedtime story, Livy looked up at the giraffe on her dresser, and said: “Giraffe. Di-ant” (that’s what she calls me). “Fun”.
We think so, too, Livy. Let’s get together again soon.
