Tired of sunrise/sunset photos yet? Well, just one more, and we’ll take a break.
The little park in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina (where the silhouette pictures from Friday’s post were taken) was one we had visited a couple of months ago. There was a nice walkway down to a deck right at the water.
Last week, when we went there, we could definitely see the results of Hurricane Irene. The “sound” side of the Outer Banks was hit harder than the ocean side.
The dock was destroyed, and the walkway was filled with tide debris.
But in contrast to all the destruction, there was a beautiful sunset.
And, I promise, no more sunset pictures until next weekend.
That is, unless there’s one this week that’s so pretty, I can’t wait to share.

I never get tired of sunset (sunrises) they are always so beautiful. Between the sunset and hurricane it is a bit like the beauty and the beast isn’t it? Thanks for sharing.
That last picture is beautiful. No, I’m not tired of sunset/sunrise pictures. We had a beautiful one at the farm last night. “It looks like a zebra print,” Rick said.
I never get tired of sunset/sunrise photos! You have a way of capturing the magic in them over the water. So sad about the destruction from Irene – it was quite a storm that’s for sure…..they’ll have everything rebuilt before your NEXT visit to OBX I’m sure.
Pam
Your sunrise/sunset pictures were different this weekend since they weren’t taken from your own backyard. Quite a contrast between the damage of the hurricane and the beauty of the sunset. Although there is damage and heartache, the sunrise/sunsets always give hope for better things.
I love all of your scenes. They are so lovely. The destruction was very bad…….I had to report my TV as having trouble and the person asked “Have you had any bad weather in your area????? Duh~~~I told her; “If an earthquake or a Hurricane counts, then we had both”…………….They came twice and I hope finely it is fixed.
That last photo is so beautiful ~ I’m with the others….never get tired of thes magical sunrise/sunset photos!
you don’t have to hold them back on our account! seriously! share away!
If there’s another one that impresses you, you’d better post it! 😉
I love the last picture. It is hard to look at the damage a storm can do,
but there is always a brighter day.
wow….that last one is so impressive. you have inspired me but i have only captured one awesome sunset. in winter i get some pretty amazing sunrises over the river. hopefully i will rise early enough to capture a few and share them here!!
All of your OBX sunrise and sunset shots have been gorgeous!! We were there this weekend and all I saw was RAIN! lol Thanks for sharing!
Dianna,
When you say ‘filled with debris’ you mean it! Wow. But the gift in all of that is definitely the sunset and you framed it so beautifully. I’m glad you could still look to the heavens and focus on the beauty even in the midst of the chaos. It really speaks to your character. And no, I am not tired of your sunrise/sunset pictures. Each one has its own story to tell. Keep posting!
Beautiful!! I like the debris hanging in the next to last photo.
