The Barns Of Windsor Castle

Yesterday, I posted about our town’s wonderful park, located on the grounds of Windsor Castle plantation.

Today,  for Barn Charm, I’m sharing pictures of the barns on the property.   One row of barns is situated to the side of the manor house.  This picture was taken by Marshall a few  years ago, when he was fortunate enough to be invited to tour and have lunch at Windsor Castle. He took this photo from an upstairs window in the house, and it shows the fronts of the barns.

Last week, during my walk at the park, I took this picture of the back side of the same barns.

This little red shed and gorgeous old white barn are across the barnyard .

As well as these two red beauties.

During the fall of 2010, I took this picture of those barns, with a glimpse of the manor house in the background.

And this picture, taken that winter, shows Windsor Castle barns in the snow.

Marshall’s photo, as well as these last two, were just waiting patiently to participate in Barn Charm.

  1. Nice shots – especially in the snow. It gives a glimpse of their beauty year round.

  2. Patience pays off! Great shots of some lovely barns and buildings at Windsor Castle. You’re lucky to have such a “photo-worthy” spot so close to home!

  3. That did it! Now I have to find this place…we are always looking for places to visit, and with gas prices being what they are these days, I like to visit a little closer to home. This place definitely fits the bill! What a gorgeous place! On another note, my sister called me last night to tell me about this wonderful place they had just visited in Northern VA that had fences and stuff for me to photograph…she can’t wait to take me there when I go up later this month. Thought it was funny that now she is scouting out things for me to shoot for my blog! Loved your photos today – and thanks to Marshall also!

  4. Beautiful shots! I remember when I was a bit younger, my friend’s mother boarded her stallion in one of those red barns. So not that long ago they were actually being used. Such a pretty little area!

  10. It’s amazing how little of the property you can see from Pagan Creek. Had no idea all those barns were there!

  21. Fun to see them from all the different perspectives!

  22. Love the shot you took from upstairs…great view! Those are beautiful old barns!

  23. In a couple of the pictures, the small row of barns resembles bird houses! (In my mind–which is a scary place to go). The snow scene is pretty.

  24. Wow I want to visit there (or live there. 😉 )
All those barns are wonderful. You had a perfect over-view for a great photo. There sure is a lot of barns in the area. I’m glad because it makes for an extra special Barn Charm Tuesday! I like the snow picture, it’s a peach! 🙂

Dianna it took you and your blog to show me such beautiful places in my own homes towns that I did know where there (Surry and Smithfield). It has been such fun. Your pictures are wonderful.
