Sunset Sunday

Rescue, Virginia is a little waterfront village just two or three miles from us. Other than homes, Rescue consists of a post office, a marina, two churches, a restaurant (Captain Chuckamucks, which has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) and a bridge, which crosses Jones Creek.

Friday evening, Motor Man and I were returning from a graduation party and happened to be driving through Rescue at the time of sunset. I’ve always wanted to stop to get photos from the bridge, and this seemed like a good time.

“Chuckamucks” is on the water, just to the right in these photos, and our house is “around the bend” to the left.

The golden light of sunset, no oncoming vehicles, and a hubby willing to stop, came together for the perfect opportunity for this week’s Sunset Sunday photos.

  1. This is beautiful! Wonder how I missed Capt. Chuckamucks? I usually watch DDD – especially when there is something local! Oh well…now I have another place to add! I have been through Rescue quite a few times on our wanderings!

  2. What a beautiful spot to stop and enjoy the peace and quiet accompanying a gorgeous sunset. Love the name “Capt. Chuckamucks”…..I bet they have GOOD food! Happy Sunday…..

  3. Gorgeously golden Dianna! You caught some birds in the sky on the last one. Love the docks and the bend in the water. Chuckamucks sounds like a happy place to me. 😀 Enjoy your Sunday! We got us a nice little rain last night after almost two months of no rain. I can hear our Oaks sighing relief.

  4. Rescue is so picturesque and a perfect setting for sunset photos. Always enjoyed Rescue….

  5. Oh those are NICE! Great catches.
    Have a lovely Sunday.

  6. I love your pictures of the sunset! I can’t wait to have you take some of ours at Belle Grove Plantation!

  7. very pretty and calming.

  8. ah … what a view! Thank you for sharing it with us 🙂 MJ

  9. Oh my – you’ve done it again! Love how that second one goes to almost silhouette against the sky. My husband “offered” to stop on a bridge last night so I could take a skyline pic (it was, in fact too dangerous)…I’m wearing him down…soon he’ll be making that offer for real (I hope!)

  10. A beautiful sunset. Thanks to Motor Man for stopping so that we all can share.

  11. Postcard perfect shot, Dianna! Gorgeous!

  12. I’ve never seen this view in this light … It looks like a different spot in these pictures… Chuckamucks is a great place, too.. And if you go, try to go by boat; it’s the best way to arrive! 😉

  13. Beautiful sunset shots! The last one is my fav.

  14. Another place to add to my list of ‘must see’. Great light in the pictures!

  15. I agree with Marshall, definitely by boat! Beautiful shots and such a nice little spot right there.

  16. Great photos! We always seem to have a vehicle behind us, so you were blessed!

  17. Aw, what would Sunday be without Dianna’s Sunday sunsets? Love them!!

Have not been to Rescue in years. I always though it was a nice spot.
Connie and Dwight lived there for a while when Candi was young. Your pictures are beautiful as always
