As we say here in the south: “Happy Fall, Y’all”. Autumn begins tomorrow, and I must say that I have mixed emotions about the departure of summer.
I love the warm weather and being able to go out without bundling up in a coat, gloves, etc. However. Around this time of year, the heat and humidity in our area have just about worn out their welcome.
And although it means fewer days of flip-flops and sandals, the approach of cooler weather means that I can start looking forward to little things like wearing a scarf with my outfit.
Pumpkin spice is everywhere. (We even saw a sign at an oil lube shop in the Outer Banks last week that read: “Pumpkin spice oil changes are back”.)
And with fall comes the early morning fog across the fields; in this case, fog at sunrise over a nearby cotton field.
And it’s easy to believe that maybe, just maybe, summer may be a bit overrated.
Perhaps I am ready for sweater weather.
“Nature gives to every time and season some beauties of its own; and from morning to night, as from the cradle to the grave, it is but a succession of changes so gentle and easy that we can scarcely mark their progress.” ~Charles Dickens

Simple elegance!
I’m a big fan of sweater weather……Fall is my favorite time of the year……and you know, the beach is pretty in the Fall too (wink wink).
Pam
Your photos are lovely. It’s been foggy most morning around here too.
About Autumn time I like the beautiful colors that the woodlands burst in to and I like sitting outside in the cooler temp. Oh and I like that the skeeters go away for the most part.
So what do you suppose is a “Pumpkin spice oil changes are back” lol It sounds quite interesting.
Happy Fall to ya’ll too (a day early.)
Diane, I am usually a warm weather person but for some reason this year I am looking forward to cold weather. Perhaps it is because I never seemed to get caught up with yard work this summer! Can’t be age can it? (Raymond)
As always your pictures are worth more than words. I too, am ready for the 3 Hs of summer to leave this year. It has been one hot and humid summer for the record books. Now, if only this rain would give a day’s rest!
Love your photos and I am real ready for fall. It’s been too hot for too long!
My favorite time of year…
& it is on the way …
great pics!
Come to the ‘cool’ side, Dianna, with me (the fall lover) although I can do without everything being pumpkin spice. A little is okay, but there’s too much overkill on that flavor now. 😉 Gorgeous photos, my friend.
Fall is my favorite time of year but this year I really feel like we got cheated out of the best of summer because of the high heat and humidity. We are 91 degrees today with a 70 dew point. So I would like to have a bit of normal summer before we head to fall, but I think the weather isn’t interested in what I want… 🙂 Lovely light!
Fall is a wonderful season too. I love the colors, smells, the coolness, the decorating. I love the beautiful pictures with the fog. Yes the fall is coming.
Fog gives an ethereal feel to you photos. I do like that about fall. I don’t know that I’m ready to even THINK about digging out the sweaters…Fall should last until March.
