The Days of Autumn

On Sunday, Motor Man and I took a drive, which we do quite often.

But this Sunday wasn’t an ordinary day. It was an amazingly beautiful autumn day.

Our journey included a ferry ride across the James.  I’ve never seen a sky so clear.

The trees in our area are now showing their autumn colors.  These are in the little town of Surry.  You can always count on these trees to be a beautiful orangey-red in the fall.

Then we stopped at Bacon’s Castle, one of my very favorites places on earth. I love looking at these pictures: they really show how beautiful the day was.

The trees at Bacon’s Castle are bright yellows and oranges.

Just look at that carpet of leaves.

Days as perfect as Sunday just don’t come along too often.

  1. These beautiful days of beautiful colors are another blessing to give thanks for!

  2. I love fall and you captured it beautifully.

  3. Days like Sunday really don’t come along that often, and that’s what makes them so cool … the smokehouse pic (the last one in the series) is my favorite… crunchin’ those leaves is the sound of Fall!

I still love the Jamestown ferry. Chuck and I take rides on it when ever we
can. I remember when Daddy use to work on the ferry, Mommy will take us down there sometimes and we would walk on the ferry and ride over and come back. Fun times.

Your pictures are lovely Dianna, you really made Fall come to life. Thanks so much for sharing, I love your pictures (all of them).
