September Storm

This week has been a stormy one for us. For my friends (and family) in Texas, I wish we could send some of our rain your way.  For my friends in New England, I hope your flooding eases soon.  In our immediate area, we’ve had ample rain recently, but nearby counties have had minimal flooding, causing some roads to wash away.

Tuesday, I noticed these storm clouds moving in from the west. This, of course, is where my sunset pictures are taken.

Many times this week, in the midst of angry looking clouds, there have been patches of blue sky.

Some of the storm clouds this week have really been beautiful. These next two pictures were taken from the deck, where I take sunrise photos.

Definitely no sun visible at this time.

This storm’s bark was worse than its bite. But it made for some interesting photos.

  1. The sky offers infinite “artistic” opportunities for painters and photographers alike….cloud formations, light/dark combinations – it can change moods in an instant. Your photos capture the many faces of mother nature so well!

  2. This sure has been a year for wild weather and, like you, I wish we could send some rain to our friends in TX. Great pictures … and like a snowflake, no two are ever the same.

  3. We’ve been very fortunate even with earthquake and hurricane…compared to the rest of the country. Storm clouds make for more interest than those sunny, blue skies.

  4. The bare sliver of blue in your second picture is certainly one of contrast.
Thank you for the nod towards Texas.

  5. so glad you did not get “bitten”!! the pictures are gorgeous, the sun was not needed for that!!!

  6. Some very impressive skys and clouds there. We have had some rotten weather here as well. Lots and lots of rain and wind. Our skys are just GREY and boring.

  7. they are beautiful and moody. 🙂

  8. Gorgeous clouds (even if they are quite threatening looking) Your photos look like beautiful paintings.
The sun is sporadically appearing today, so maybe our world will green out a bit from the rains of the past week.
    🙂

  9. Another impressive series here … The weather across the country has been showing us just what it’s capable of, and it seems that Texas and Vermont are a couple of the hardest hit… The contrast in these steals the show!

  10. They are very pretty; wish we could see some, with rain! but no storms!

  11. Once again such lovely photos……………..

  12. Yes, interesting photos. I’ve noticed a bit of peaceful blue here or there in an otherwise threatening sky, too. Sometimes just the tiniest piece, but it is there, filling in for a missing puzzle piece.

  13. Look at those clouds! Beautiful but threatening!

Much bad weather all over the country. We truly have been blessed.
