Lookin’ Out My Back Door

Actually, it’s looking out our side door. But that doesn’t have quite the same “ring”.

These pictures were taken just after sunrise one gorgeous morning a couple of weeks ago.

I love morning’s golden hour. Thank you, my friend, Dee, for opening my eyes to it.

  1. The slatted shadows and (permanently?) wind-blown tree in the last photo make the picture active and timeless. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a bare-footed Native American walk to the boat. Nor a long-pantsed lawn tennis player. Nor my baby boy, twenty-four years from now with two oars over his right shoulder and his fiancee holding his left hand.

  2. Beautiful….sometimes you don’t need to see the sun rise. Just looking at that golden light is special….Love the glow in these. Makes that cedar and Old Boat look even more special.

  3. Fabulous shots Dianna….vivid colors in that golden hour lighting…..makes golden hour become a golden day.

  4. Lookin’ out my back door! Credence Clearwater Revival, now that is a song I always made up my own words to the lyrics. “doo, doo, doo Lookin’ out my back door, Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn”. Your lawn looks Golden Dianna. Beautiful shots! Enjoy your Saturday 🙂

  5. Awww, I think you always knew it was there, I just threw out the name for it! There’s not much that makes me happier than being able to enjoy the magic of that kind of light. I love the diagonal shadows the trees were casting and the color of the sky you captured.

p.s. Is that CCR? Whoever it is, that song is now stuck in my head! Love it.

  6. Exquisite photos, Dianna!

  7. These pictures are golden. Question: What is making those very straight lined shadows?

  8. Just beautiful! There are wheat fields on three sides of our home, and when there is a good healthy crop, the golden hour makes for a pretty cool sight.

  14. There is always a special hour around sunrise and sunset that is magical to me, the lighting is so beautiful that I wish it lasted a very long time. You have wonderful views all around your home and your photos are terrific!

  15. Yes, the morning sun does that! I just commented this morning to my husband how the sun was rising over the tree tops in golden colors.

  16. Can’t beat the color in that first one!! …but those looooong Autumn tree shadows in the last pic are priceless …
