My neighbors and I have recently been keeping an eye on two special little families in our neighborhood. A couple of days ago, they cruised by our yard.
One family has three children. Those are a bit older than the two little ones in the other family. The goslings are so cute and awkward when they scamper around.
Back in the water, they’re just cute and graceful.
This isn’t a great picture, (since I cut one of the parents “in half”), but how sweet is this little gosling’s face?
We try not to get too attached to the little ones. In the past, goslings have tended to disappear one-by-one. When that happens, it’s heartbreaking to see the parents, knowing their babies are gone.
Yesterday, when I was out taking sunset photos, and giving bread to the swans, the goose families were in the yard. It’s amazing how close you can get to them when you’re feeding them corn. (Yes, they’re messy; we’re very careful about where we walk.) Thankfully, for the most part, they keep their distance from the house.
We’re hoping nothing happens to these little ones. In spite of our best intentions, we’ve grown quite fond of the new kids on the block.
