Barn Charm And Fall Crops

I’ve shared photos of this barn before. It’s located just outside the Smithfield town limits.

Saturday, as I was driving by, the surrounding cotton fields were so beautiful, I couldn’t resist stopping and getting this picture. The following day, the farmer picked the cotton.

Not too much to see from the highway of this next barn, but the soybean field in front is pure gold. Whenever I see soybeans, I think of my farming uncles, who always called them “so-ja beans”.  As a child, I thought they were saying “soldier beans”. I wonder  how old I was before I realized the crop was SOY beans?

The fields are so pretty this time of year. And if there’s a nearby barn, well, that  just adds to the charm.

Linking up to Barn Charm.

  9. Thanks for the cotton field picture. I’m trying to figure out a picture to paint for my Xmas card this year and I’m thinking about a field of cotton and calling it Southern Snow. Got any more pictures of cotton to share?
