While We Waited

It appears that I may possibly have depleted my supply of “unblogged” sunset photos.  I know, how can that be? Maybe I just need to dig a little deeper in my archives.

But for today, I’m sharing pictures I took a few weeks ago as we were stopped on the James River Bridge for a bridge lift.

It wasn’t actually sunset, but it was close enough that the river had a golden glow.

Everyone dislikes being caught on the bridge during a lift, because it delays your trip by 15-20 minutes at the very least.

This time, I managed a couple of interesting pictures during the wait.

  1. It’s great that you always have your camera with you in the car…..even during a bridge lift you capture some beauties!!

  2. They are beautiful pictures Dianna. I love the soft colors and the progression of the boat. Nice series of shots. Those colors! Those clouds.

  3. I see white gold and brilliant golden hour glows in these. These are great, Dianna.

  4. The light on the water is wonderful. My camera (especially iphone!) has saved me from boredom more than once!

  5. beautiful muted colors. 🙂

  6. Ahh…you got “bridged”! 🙂 Great shots, a photographer is never bored or impatient by those things that “hold us up” in life! It’s all just another opportunity to appreciate the beauty around us. 😉

  7. That is one of the upshots of the JRB bridge lift .. if you’re there at the right time, the sunset will help you pass the time .. and the ships are interesting – there are websites where people log ship sightings – they track them everywhere!

  8. I love the color of the sky, especially in the second shot.. Ships are always interesting to me, I seldom see anything bigger than a motor boat on the lake or maybe a barge on the river!

  9. Great color. Only a photographer can fully appreciate a bridge lift. 🙂

  10. Lovely shot! I adore the cast of the sun on the water.
