Meeting Friends

To me, one of the bonuses of blogging is meeting other bloggers. Some we really only get to know through blog comments, but others we are fortunate enough to actually meet in person.

A couple of years ago, I learned about Pam, who, along with her ginger kitty, Sam, writes One Spoiled Cat.  Our friendship began first with the blogs, then with e-mails, which became more frequent. Over time, Motor Man and I met Pam and her husband, Dave, to have lunch and do a little antiquing, and they’ve visited us here in our home town.

Yesterday, Motor Man and I met Pam and Dave in Strasburg, Virginia. We antiqued, then had lunch at Hotel Strasburg. This was a “return engagement’. You may recall that the first time we met the two of them was in Strasburg in April of last year.

The four of us don’t get together all that often: perhaps a couple of times a year. It’s always nice to see each other in person. With all the e-mailing that we do, you’d think we wouldn’t have anything to talk about when we meet.  Wrong.

Pam took a picture of Motor Man and me in front of the hotel.

And we returned the favor.

Northern Virginia had winter weather earlier in the week, resulting in a couple of inches of snow. We were so glad the highways were clear yesterday, so we could continue with our Christmas get-together plans.

See you again soon, Pam & Dave!

  2. My brother and SIL left on Tuesday to be with my nephew and his wife for the birth of their first child and brother’s first grandson. They also, live in VA near Alexandria. Maybe, just maybe 2014 will bring me to VA when I would love to meet up with you all.

  3. So neat that you can and do get together; it’s obvious you genuinely care for each other and how fun is that? :: Love :: this post!

  4. I’m so glad the roads were clear so you could keep your date with Pam and Dave.
    Looks like a fun day.

  5. I love that you two got together. I also know we will definitely cross paths sooner or later. We keep inching up to each other’s edges in both North Carolina and Virginia. And when it happens, I’m sure it will be like seeing an old and dear friend. We already know so much about each other. And that is the gift of blogging, isn’t it?

  6. Dianna, It’s wonderful that you are now friends “in person” with Pam and Dave.. I have a hunch we will be meeting too as we’re not all that far away.I am still also convinced we should plan a Virginia blogger meeting. I’m making a list of VA bloggers or those nearby who might want to join us. Wouldn’t that be fun?

  7. So glad you all had a wonderful time. Days with sweet friends make the holidays all that more special and dear to the heart! Especially nice that you four are close enough to see each other in person.. and meet for FOOD.. 😀

  8. Strasburg looks like a great place to do what we all love most-antiquing, lunching and being with friends. The Virginia bloggers meeting sounds great!

  15. I think that is so awesome that you guys get together like that and I totally agree with what Renee said about blogging being a gift. Though I’ve not had the pleasure of meeting any of you I still think of it in the same way. “A gift”, yes indeed!
