Windowpane Wednesday: Blue Truck Stuck

I won’t complain about all the rain we’ve had recently. Certainly, there are those in other areas that have fared much worse from the weather over the past couple of weeks.

But, we’ve had a lot of rain.

Saturday morning, as Motor Man and I were leaving home to run some errands, my little group of mallards showed up for breakfast at the side door of our garage.  But, there were also Canada geese in our yard, and I try to avoid feeding them at all costs.  I do nothing to encourage them to hang around. Sadly, they need no encouragement.

I threw some corn to the ducks, jumped in the truck with Motor Man, and suggested that perhaps we could ‘head off’ the geese by driving between them and the garage.

Not the best idea I’ve ever had.

We were stuck (this isn’t a 4-wheel drive vehicle).

Have I mentioned lately how thankful I am that my Motor Man isn’t easily upset?

So we  drove my car to our shop to get our Tahoe, which IS 4-wheel drive, and waited til the next day when the weather had somewhat improved to pull the blue truck out of its spot.

And the geese still ended up eating most of the duck’s corn.

  1. Oops! I would have thought this was a great idea myself. Those darn geese drive me nuts, too.

  2. Best laid plans!!! I remember Dad encouraging the geese when they first showed up on the farm. He would even take his tractor down to break the ice on the pond for them. And then……they loved him so much that he almost regretted the encouragement. Great memories you’ve brought back this morning. Good thing Motor Man is easy going!

  3. Too bad about the truck getting stuck but your intentions were good…….however those geese are relentless and a truck wouldn’t have stopped them anyway (most likely). Glad you rescued the truck with the Tahoe though!

  4. Some days are like that, our good intentions get us stuck. But you can blame it on those darn geese. 😉

  5. Stick with the R/C vehicles when it comes to chasing geese away ! ; )
