I was amazed the first time it happened. I was astonished when it happened the second time.
On Thursday, my blog was featured again on Freshly Pressed, the homepage of WordPress.com. And, just as before, rather than pinching myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, I took a photo of my computer screen.
The first time was in April. The WordPress folks introduced my blog to LOTS of people by featuring my post about recent tornado damage in our area. Then, this week, they spotlighted the post I published on Monday about Motor Man’s parents’ sixty-ninth anniversary.
I’ve mentioned before how shy I was in school. I never tried out for sports or cheerleading, and Glee Club was my only extracurricular activity. I guess I’ve always “flown under the radar”, so to speak, and never really done anything to receive any recognition. No trophies, no awards, no placques or certificates. Well, I did earn a blue ribbon at the county fair once, but that’s a post for another day.
Maybe that’s why having my blog appear on “Freshly Pressed” means so much. Not only does it bring a large number of views and comments, but it’s a huge compliment.
And one that I don’t take lightly. Thanks, WordPress. And thanks to all of you for reading and commenting. I love making new friends!
But, enough is enough. I promise, if I should be so fortunate as to ever be featured on Freshly Pressed again, I’ll just keep it to myself. Maybe.
