Today, for Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop, I chose this prompt:
2.) Write an entry inspired by the word: Yellow
When I hear the word yellow, one memory immediately comes to mind. Marshall will probably know exactly what today’s post is when he sees the title.
When Marshall was around ten years old, I would occasionally baby-sit “L’, the daughter of a friend of mine. “L” was a toddler at the time, and had difficulty making the sound of the letter “Y”, so when she said the word yellow, she pronounced it “lellow”.
One day when she was staying with us, Marshall and I decided that we were going to have a little lesson to help “L” say yellow. Marshall and I began by saying to her: “L”, say YAY!”. And we clapped our hands while saying “YAY!”. So “L” did the same. Then we said: “Say, YAY-YELLOW”!
To which, “L” said: “YAY-LELLOW”.
“L” soon learned to say yellow, she grew up, got married on our lawn, and she and her groom drove away in our little lellow car.
