Yesterday, I posted about the train portion of a recent trip that Motor Man and I took to Connecticut with friends. The reason the train stopped after about a half hour into the trip…?
It stopped here for us to board the Becky Thatcher Riverboat for the next segment of our excursion.
The riverboat ride lasted about an hour and a half. We could not have asked for a more perfect weather day.
We took advantage of the offer to go up on the top deck of the boat: definitely the place to be. These are our friends, Bev and Bill, enjoying the cruise.
I wish we’d had someone take a picture of the four of us together, but we didn’t think to do that.
There was lots of boat traffic on this beautiful Sunday afternoon.
Including this: a floating hot dog stand. Since the Becky Thatcher had a snack bar, we didn’t stop here, but we thought it was a clever idea.
And then, far up on a cliff, we saw this.
And tomorrow, I’ll tell you what it is.

And the trip gets even better. Can’t believe Motor Man turned down a hot dog!!!
Oh, that looks so relaxing! 🙂
Lovely green hill. Do you get to climb up it?
Connecticut is beautiful and you were in one of the prettiest spots.
Cliffhangers two days in a row!?!? : ) See you tomorrow!
I had no idea they had floating hot dog stands! Looks like a perfect day.
quite the multi-vehicle tour you’ve got going there!
Well…I’d been hoping that you weren’t gonna say that your train got held up by a gang of outlaws! That floating hot dog stand is IT!! Love that.
I have never been on a old fashioned train nor on a river boat. I’m thinking that I’m living in the wrong part of the country! What a great time for you and Motor Man and friends.
I didn’t know there was a riverboat on the East Coast, Dianna. My hubby has mentioned he’d like to ride one on the Mississippi. You did have gorgeous weather for you excursion! Looks like a lovely time. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s post to see what you found!
Oh, and he probably won’t pass by the hot dog stand! lol
yesterday….i got out my scrapbook, i one i documented this trip in. as i read my “story” i relived this trip. i’m so happy for you because this is a good one!!
next time please ask someone to take a picture, i am always so happy to do it for people, i often ask them if they would like me to!!!
“Get your Hot Dogs here” I wonder how many I can store in my kayak! Thanks for the idea! David will be thrilled that I finally got a job!
The perfect day for a cruise! And train ride! And even though I know what that is appearing on the hill above, I’m looking forward to reading more and seeing pics!
Your pictures are super! It sure was a beautiful day. What a fun way to spend the day. 🙂
You sure have access to some beautiful places. It looks like a castle on the hill. :))
I want to run a floating hot dog stand!! 🙂 What a fun trip .. can’t wait to see what’s the story about the old fort/castle up on the hill …. 🙂 MJ
I have to wonder how much business the hot dog stand boat is getting, although it is a clever idea! Curious to see what’s up with the castle on the hill!
Thanks for taking us along on your wonderful trip!!
