Sleeping Through The Sunrises

We haven’t had any spectacular sunrises recently. Or maybe I just haven’t been up in time to capture them…?

So, for Sunrise Saturday this week, I looked back through my photos, and found this sunrise from September 8. I believe it to be blog-worthy.

Some of the clouds looked very much like smoke.

This next picture was taken about fifteen minutes later, as the sun was breaking through the clouds. It still amazes me how quickly the sky changes during the course of a sunrise.

And don’t worry: for those of you who look forward to Saturdays’ posts, I plan to break this recently-developed habit of sleeping through the sunrise.

  1. Since I’m the first to comment this morning, I guess Ellie ‘slept through the sunrise’, too since the sun rises much earlier in her part of the world!! With the days shortening, you’ll soon be up in plenty of time to catch those sunrises….IF our weather ever clears up enough to see it ‘rise’! Beautiful, as always.

  2. I like to pretend that, with no directional markers or time clues, I can distinguish sunrises and sunsets. Because hope drenches sunrises and nostalgia surrounds sunsets.

    These are pictures of sunrises.

  3. ♪♫Morning has broken…♪♫

  4. Dianna, you have the market cornered when it comes to sunrises — who could possibly compete? Who could ever take your place? Please jump out of bed, get the shots and then snuggle back under the covers with our blessings! P.S. I love Jimmy’s comment about hope and nostalgia!

  5. gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous… so soft and subtle and incredibly beautiful…

  6. I woke up at 7 this morning and thought it was still middle of the night, it was still so dark. We’ve had a windy and rainy night and a brrr chilly morning.
    Loved your sunrise!

  7. So beautiful….sleep in anytime ~ archive photos are pretty too! These seem mysterious to me (as you said, must be the clouds!)

  8. Beautiful sunrise photos. Stunning views like that (and hazelnut coffee) make me appreciate getting up early.

By the way, thanks for the beautiful card! I got it in the mail a few days ago. So much fun getting something nice in the mail. 🙂

  9. It is amazing how quickly the sky changes, being much more evident at sunrise (so I’ve heard) and sunset. It’s a beautiful day outside your window every day, isn’t it?

  10. So beautiful….every picture you post is different – capturing some new “nuance” of a sunrise or sunset. We never tire of seeing them – you’re so blessed to have these views every day!

  11. If you want to sleep late, go for it! Choices from the sunrise archives are perfectly fine! The first one is a bold beginning to the day.

  12. I’ll confess to sleeping through many sunrises since I’m a night owl. Your photos are beautiful, I remember the first one from earlier and thought it was really spectacular. I never tire of seeing a gorgeous sunrise or sunset!

  13. That first one is…oh my gosh. gorgeous.
Hey, you’re extra blessed because of your location…if you miss the sunrise over the water you can always just turn the camera west and catch a sunset over the water! Lucky you! I say sleep in if you want to 😉
