Golden January Sunset

Last Sunday’s sunset was a beauty. I’m glad I was at home to get pictures.

Marsh grass during sunset’s golden hour.

I uploaded this next picture to a web-site where readers’ photos are selected for publication in our daily paper. It was featured in the local section on Friday.

Canada geese and a few ducks kept me company as the sun set.

It’s a good thing the ducks weren’t in a no-wake zone.

And then, the sun was gone for another day.

  1. So beautiful and peaceful….I never get tired of seeing the views you have there; and I’m equally sure you never get tired of experiencing them first hand either!

  2. These are absolutely stunning Dianna, very peaceful and tranquil. Congratulations on being featured in your newspaper – that is exciting.

  3. ‘Stunning’ is the word! Peaceful, breathtaking and then funny 🙂 I just find it so amusing when I find myself chuckling all byself in the dark over a post or picture. You got me chuckling with the no wake comment and the picture of the ducks motoring along! I can certainly see why your photo was selected and featured in your daily newspaper. Congratulations Dianna! Enjoy your Sunday today!

  4. These all are such stunning compostions of a most glorious sunset. Serene and calm.

  5. Beautifully spectacular with the light changing and the waterfowl cooperating so nicely. We have six inches of snow, so your pix made me feel warm — you have SAND!

  6. Congratulations on your featured photo! So proud of you.

  7. so beautiful! i’m surprised the local tv stations and newspapers don’t have your number on speed dial when they need material!

  8. How exciting to have your photo chosen; but for those of us who “know” you? Not a surprise.

You have an eye for it 🙂

  9. Stunning was my word too…seems these photos spoke to all of us! The one you sent in had it all – the pretty grass, sky, geese – the lighting is perfect. So neat that the paper published it!

  10. These are just gorgeous. You captured the peacefullness & tranquility perfectly. How awesome that one of your photos was published too. A big congrats to you 🙂

  11. I love the colors out on the river this time of year. The blues of the sky and the golden grasses. What you can’t see is how COLD it is out there. Those poor ducks and geese. Their feet must be freezing!

  12. You always manage to catch the perfect shots…of course, it isn’t luck, but persistence! What beautiful photos – and congratulations on being “published” in the paper!

  13. Congrats on being published! Great photos. Those ducks were making quite a wake behind them.

  14. Beautiiful, beautiful. Keep it up. Your fans will never tire of your sunrises, sunsets, nature, family, barns, trips, whatever. Oh I almost forgot Sundae. Love having this blog to look at every morning, Is a wonderful way to start the day.

  15. That’s awesome that your local paper ran your photo!! Congrats! 🙂

  16. To quote you, Dianna: “During the winter, there just don’t seem to be as many pretty sunrises (or sunsets?) as there are during the other seasons of the year.” You have proved yourself wrong – twice!

    Lovely.

    • Paula, I made that statement about sunrises during the winter. And perhaps I should have worded it differently: from our vantage point, the sunrises aren’t as pretty during the winter. I’m sure it goes back to the old saying: “location, location, location”! Thanks for reading and commening!

  17. Gorgeous and very peaceful. Happy Sunday!

  18. So pretty! So different from my home. This is a part of the country I haven’t seen… looks like I need to plan a vacation!

  21. Looks like another impressive winter sunset to me! And , as I’ve said before, the waterfowl certainly know where to catch a good sunset!!
