Breakfast Time

Another week has zipped by, and it’s time again for Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop. My prompt this week is:

4.)Describe the scene at breakfast.

Breakfast at our house is probably very boring calm compared to some.  Since Motor Man is semi-retired, we’re seldom in a rush.  Currently, our breakfast of choice is oatmeal, due in part to my higher-than-desirable cholesterol level.

We eat in the little breakfast nook area of our kitchen at an old oak table that we bought at an antique shop. Sundae usually sits nearby, hoping that one day, we’ll have something more to her liking than oatmeal.

We discuss what jobs Motor Man will be working on at the shop that day.  And what my plans are: laundry, working on my blog,  housework, shopping…well, you get the idea.

Then we clear the table, and Motor Man leaves for the shop.

Our quiet little breakfast is a good beginning to the day.

  1. Sounds a lot like our mornings – except for the oatmeal part! I love oatmeal, and probably should eat more of it, but I somehow seem to forget about it! Some leftover rebellion from childhood, perhaps?

  2. Nice peaceful moments before the day begins….sometimes THAT’s the only part of the day that you can “count” on! Love your breakfast nook – starting out your morning there must be a pleasure….. 🙂

  21. I like that – a non-frenetic, healthy breakfast sounds like a great start. I don’t do oatmeal frequently but when I do I usually think “gosh I should do this more often”!

Since I work 5 days a week breakfast is no where to be found on the week days! Chuck and I do get to enjoy it on the weekends (sometimes). I love your table.

  25. Looks like a page from a decorating magazine, nice! So, do you take the sunrise photos before or after breakfast? 🙂
