Our small town Christmas parade took place Saturday in downtown Smithfield. Not to sound Scrooge-ish, but I didn’t attend.
However, later, I did see a few vehicles on our side of town that obviously had taken part in the parade.
These are, from the best I can determine, Model A Fords. I wasn’t sure about the difference between Model A’s and Model T’s, so I did a little research. My first source, of course, was Motor Man, and he knew that the “T’s” were the earlier models, but wasn’t exactly sure of the years.
Model “T’s” were built from 1908 til 1927, and the “A’s” were from 1928 til 1931.
These license plates (which I’ve scrambled to protect the owners’ identities) showed 1931.
I was happy to see that “Rudolph the red nosed bear” had a warm, cozy blanket on which to ride.
Whenever I stop to take pictures, I wonder what passers-by are thinking. But, as I took these, anyone who recognized me and knew that I was Motor Man’s wife, didn’t think twice.
I was just capturing what, most likely, would have been our favorite part of the Christmas parade.

Ah, the red-nosed bear is adorable.
That blue truck with the Christmas tree could be a Christmas card. I love that one.
I missed the parade this year as I went to Edenton, NC to their annual Christmas Open Houses. What a treat!
Loved them all, especially that blue truck! 🙂 MJ
I would like to call that little red pick up my own!
love the bear with the rudolph nose! So clever!
I love the red one–very Christmassy!
Oh my gosh! I love these…I come from a long line of antique car lovers! Actually, I’m a car nut…antique, muscle, new, and yes, race. I appreciate them all 🙂 In storage, we have my dad’s 1934 and 1936 Fords…both totally restored. They are such treasures!
I love them! My favorite is the bright red one in the first picture. It looks so Christmasy. I see cars like those and it reminds me of the times when Life seemed so much slower.
I love a parade. The old cars are wonderful. You did a dandy of a job getting good pictures of them. I bet you wasn’t the only person taking photos. Sweet. 🙂
the cars are cool, but that truck is sweet!
I was downtown, but didn’t see all of the parade – I missed these, unfortunately… But I did see them earlier that morning in the Hardee’s parking lot ;D
Oh wow….that would have been David’s favorite part of the parade……and probably mine too – love old cars!
Pam
Wow, those old Model A’s are neat! I agree the photos would make an awesome Christmas card. I especially liked “bringing home the tree.” 🙂
These are just wonderful photos! There is something so touching about the old cars that are all spiffied up for a parade. I too love the red one because it’s so Christmassy, and Taking Home the Xmas Tree….
A lovely post. 🙂
The trucks are great.
To die for! Lucky owners of those beauties. I adore vintage vehicles.
Very cool. The blue one is my fav.
They do make a great addition to a parade.
What fun old vehicles! Love the decorations and the mint condition they’re in…not sure they make cars like they used to…can’t imagine too many of the cars on the road today looking that good down the road! ~ Sheila
