Random Five Friday

The first R5F of 2015!

1.) Motor Man says ‘thank you’ for all of the birthday wishes left as comments on yesterday’s blog post!  We celebrated at our local Bojangles restaurant.  It’s tradition that my birthday gift to him is a calendar with photos taken of the two of us during the previous year.

2.) The “juvenile” swan has been visiting rather frequently.  I’ll have a post next week regarding how Bride and Groom feel about that.

3.) The morning sky on the last day of 2014 was a beauty. I was thankful to be “up and about” to capture it.

4.) Although the temps yesterday morning were in the thirties, my friend, Bev, and I went shelling. We dressed in layers, expecting to have our trip cut short because of the cold, but that wasn’t the case.  It was a fun way to begin the new year. And we both found a few treasures.

5.) Many of the bloggers I follow have written posts this week about New Year’s Resolutions. Although I haven’t actually made any, I would like to be motivated to begin my morning walks again.  How about you?  Any resolutions for you?

  1. Love your tradition of a photo calendar of the two of you – makes you smile everyday, I imagine. Shelling – you two are pioneer women – it was COLD yesterday. I was a wimp – stayed inside and quilted. No resolutions for me.

  2. That IS a wonderful gift! What a great idea 🙂

  3. That’s a nice tradition with the calendar…..hard to imagine shelling with the temps we’ve had but you Southerners (tee hee) have much warmer temps than we do up here. New Year’s resolutions? Nope…..I decided just to try and make it a really good and healthy year for me, David and Sammy too!

  4. I don’t make New Year’s resolution…that way, I don’t feel guilty when I don’t follow through. Maybe just to be thankful to have another day!!

  5. I love your calendars. So creative. Happy New Year. Can’t wait to see what you have in store for us on your blog. Love you.

  6. I’m glad I’m your Facebook friend, Dianna, so I saw this post. It did not show up in my WP Reader again! I don’t know if computer gremlins are at fault or WordPress but I don’t like it. I don’t want to miss a thing. I’m with you on not making resolutions…just take each day as it comes and try to see the best in it!

  7. I’m not sure how to referee 3 swans that are having issues !
Great last sunrise of the year !
& I had a good time at the party last evening…
    Happy New Year !

  8. I don’t do New Year’s resolutions. I just try to live the year with each moment being special. I work at worrying less and allowing myself to be happy. It’s okay to be happy I tell myself.. we owe it to ourselves! So I am hoping for healty and happy and that is what I want for all of my friends and family!

  9. I’m glad Motor Man had a good birthday. Tell him he doesn’t look a day over 50! I never make new years resolutions. I just always try to live life to the fullest!

  10. Wonderful set of Friday Fives. I reall like your tradition of the calender of you & MM through the previous year, That’s a peach of a way to celebrate another year together.
The juvenile Swan must feel safe being near you like Bride & Groom Swan does. I hope they all get along well.
I don’t have an resolutions. (However, exercise would be at the top of my list if I did make them. 😉 )

The calender is a wonderful birthday gift, good ideal! The juvenile Swan will just have to find a way to fit it, sense the Bride & Groom was there first. lol We are not big on resolutions around here, just try to make each day the best we can. Congrats Dianna, I show your lovely picture in The Smithfield Times this week!

Sorry, saw your lovely picture 😦

  13. What a great tradition!
And LOVE LOVE your last shot of 2014!

  14. I love the bride swan’s reflection in the water – looks like she is admiring herself. I am resolved to “enjoy” – using the single-word approach to resolutions of a blogger friend. Hers is “focus.” Isn’t that a great idea?

  15. Your traditional calendar gift is a great idea. I’m sure JR treasures every one.
Curious to hear the swan story. You and Bev are tough!

  16. Love the New Year’s sail. What a great way to start 2015.
