Random Five Friday For Mother’s Day

A special “edition” of R5F this week in honor of Mother’s Day.

1.) The reason I celebrate the holiday:

"Call your mother. Tell her you love her. Remember, you're the only person who knows what her heart sounds like from the inside." ~Rachel Wolchin

2.) Tuesday was the 20th anniversary of my mom’s death.  Losing her just a few days before Mother’s Day was especially painful. But, with time, the good memories outweigh the sadness.

"The death of a mother is the first sorrow wept without her". Unknown

3.) Stretching the Mother’s Day theme with this picture, but she IS a mom, caring for her five little ones.  Papa was just out of the shot.

How beautifully everything is arranged by Nature; as soon as a child enters the world, it finds a mother ready to take care of it. ~Jules Michelet

4.) To celebrate Mother’s Day Sunday, our plans include breakfast with Marshall and lunch with Motor Man’s mom and sisters.

” You count the hours you could have spent with your mother, it’s a lifetime in itself.”  Mitch Albom

5.) And you know that I’ll have the camera ready for mother/son pictures.

If you still have your mom, I hope you get to spend time with her (or talk with her on the phone) Sunday.  If she’s no longer with you, I know your memories of her will be part of your day.

  1. Sweet blog post…………..Both David and I will be remembering our Moms on Sunday……and feeling their presence then just as we always have through the years since we lost them. I know you’ll have a lovely day too with your handsome son and family! Memories come alive when our hearts breathe life into them…………….

  2. Happy Mother’s Day, Dianna! I love the photos of you and MM with your mothers.

  3. I enjoyed your post very much. May you have a blessed Mother’s Day!

  4. How sweet and touching. I’ll have to find a photo to go with these beautiful quotes. If my ex-sister hadn’t kidnapped my mom and moved her out of state, I’d be spending Mother’s Day with her. Don’t forget your daughters if they are moms too.

  5. I love your Mothers Day blog. And the quotes are so perfect.
I know you’ll have a wonderful Mothers Day.

  6. Beautiful post! We’ve already celebrated Mother’s day here in March but it’s always nice to appreciate mums again! Have a wonderful day!

  7. Just lovely Dianna.

  8. Beautiful – I especially love the first quote. Our Moms are truly lovely ladies. Mine will join us for a family dinner on Sunday too.

I wish my boys were closer. I hate not being with them especially on Mothers Day. But I am very lucky that I’m sure I’ll get to talk to them and that they are both healthy and happy!

  10. Our son is headed here from CA today! Great post Dianna about another special Mother’s Day for celebrating and remembering.

  11. That was a sweet tribute to your Mom and to some other Moms as well. Hope you have a special Mother’s Day.

A wonderful Mother’s Day blog! Happy Mother’s Day, Dianna ❤

  17. Loved all the photos and wonderful quotes. I hope you have a very special Mother’s Day ~ I know you will 🙂 MJ

  18. Your photos are great – each and every one of them – and the quotes perfect! I lost my mom 17 years ago and my mother-in-law just a a few months before my mom passed. Both of their birthdays are in May, so Mother’s Day is always a little bittersweet.

  19. Lovely post, Dianna. Enjoy your day with all the special loves in your life. I know the gander was keeping a close eye on you. 😉
