Random Five Friday

Closing out the week with five random thoughts:

1.)  You’re never too old to daydream. Nearly three years ago, friends of ours introduced us to friends of theirs who own a Gypsy horse farm. After we visited, I began following them on Facebook. Yesterday, they posted that they’re offering this 3-year old colt, named Bolt, for sale.  Alas, it’s only a daydream: I’m too old, have nowhere to keep him, no time to take care of him…. but isn’t he one of God’s most beautiful creatures?

And, he has blue eyes. Sigh…….a girl can dream…..

2.) The weather recently has been unbelievably nice. And the sunsets beyond gorgeous. This one was March 9:

And this was Wednesday evening’s.

3.) Next week, I’ll share a post about our most recent day trip. It involved an early morning; we were about an hour from home when we caught the sunrise.

4.) I’m still adjusting to the time change, waking (for some reason) every morning between 3 and 4 am.  Thankfully, most mornings, I do catch another couple of hours of sleep.  I remember when I was a child, and Daylight Savings Time began, my mom and grandmother would often say: “Well, it’s only {for example} five o’clock by the sun.”  Now, when I compare the actual time to what time it is by the sun, I think of them and smile.

5.)  Motor Man is always sharing funny stories from his childhood with me.  This past week, he shared one I hadn’t heard.  When he was a young boy, he lived on a fairly busy street.  He and his buddies partners-in-crime would occasionally crouch down between parked cars and when a car would pass by, they would make the sound of a police siren.  Well, of course, I had to get him to re-enact for me.

  1. Beautiful colt and beautiful photos of sunsets. As for that “rebel” of yours with his siren – I suspect he still has a tough of wild man in him after all these years!

  2. That sunset with the trees in the foreground is so pretty… the light and colors! A nice Random 5!!!

  3. That was the best Barney Fife car siren!! And those sunsets still take my breath away! Have a good weekend. Ph, and the Gypsy breed was another horse I had not heard of. They make my heart skip a beat too!

  4. The sunset on March 9th, my mother’s birthday, is absolutely breathtaking, Dianna. As for Bolt, he’s so handsome and looking mighty proud. Have a great weekend!

  5. Oh my goodness that Bolt is amazing! Beautiful.

  6. I had a great couple of weeks in KH and Rowdy had his last walk on the beach with his frisbee. He had a wonderful life with us and is only 2 months shy of being 16! He is going to join his sister Hilde soon. It’s so hard to loose a pet because they are a member of the family. But we have sweet, silly Nixie to carry on.

  7. Y’all can’t put a stable in the side yard? ; )
The sunsets have been awesome the past few – the kind that make you keep a camera close by ..
We should get Motor Man a megaphone and a flashing blue light !

  8. Oh that colt is so handsome and his eyes…dreamy. We’ve had some beautiful sunsets here lately too. Love the ones you captured. Have a wonderful weekend.

Bolt is beautiful, don’t blame you for day dreaming about him. The sunsets have been lovely lately, in VA Beach too. JR is a hoot!! Sometimes he reminds me of my Chuck. Both fun guys!

  10. Beautiful dream – The pictures are reflective of the beautiful days we’ve had. What a siren – Motor Man is a man of many talents.

  11. The colt is a beauty. I can see why you day dream about him.

  12. Oh, that horse is definitely a beauty and calling to you. We had 2 horses here who died of old age. Lucy was 32 and Martini was 28. They were wonderful additions to our family. Dreams can come true. 🙂

  13. Gorgeous photos! Bolt should be yours! Surely you could find a stable nearby? Wouldn’t that be awesome … and the subject of so many cool blog posts?

  14. I’ve never seen a blue-eyed horse. Beautiful skies!
