Zoomed In

As you look at the photos of Thursday’s sunset on today’s post, you’ll probably notice that they’re zoomed in a little more than usual.

There’s a good reason for that.

Thursday morning, I reached for the camera, which was on our dresser…….the strap got caught in the drawer pull…… I kept going…..the camera didn’t. Well, actually, it did keep going. Right to the floor.

When I tried to take a picture, the camera made a strange noise, but wouldn’t work. I was, shall we say, a little upset.  Motor Man suggested that maybe it was the lens that was broken and not the camera itself. And he was right.

It was the “short” lens that broke, which means that now I only have the long distance lens. You can tell I’m a professional photographer by those real technical terms that I use.

We’ll decide soon whether to send this lens to be repaired or buy a new one. In the meantime,  I guess you’ll be seeing some up-close photos.

  1. Good morning..if you hadnt said anything we would have thought this was your intention! I like your technical terms.. that’s always the way I was with engines and Motor Man. I just had to smile and nod and pretend I understood what he was talking about. And I forgot to comment on a previous post. Kathy and I loved the trains.

  2. Zoomed in, Zoomed out? Always magnificent. The color saturation here is genuinely worthy of the, sadly, over used adjective “awesome” ! Sorry about the lens…such a pain!

  3. Beautiful shots – but too bad about your camera lens! That second photo with the brilliant sky is – well – BRILLIANT! I love the calmness and serenity in the pictures. We can ALL use a lot more of that!

  4. No matter which lens you used, the pictures are beautiful…so glad it wasn’t the camera that was broken.

  5. it matters not, these are gorgeous. i have the same lenses, the short one and the long one…….and the one i need, is never on the camera!! 😉

  6. I love today’s photos – or Thursday’s! Beautiful! Your second picture is just an explosion of color!

  7. but these are beautiful just the same! sorry about the lens, though!

  8. I’m sorry about your camera but I LOVE these photos!

  9. Great results, all the same! And sorry to hear about the lens – but it sounds like things could’ve gone a bit worse ! Either way, great sunset !!

  10. Hey! I like the close-ups! Such lovely colors!

  11. Close up is good too. As always…beautiful. Sorry about your lens. Maybe it’ll fix itself? (Well, that’s always my secret wish when something breaks!)

  12. oh the sky in those pictures is lovely. You do a mean sunset/rise picture 🙂
Hope your lens is ok, and you sound a bit like me with your technical talk. Lol

  13. I like the pictures, all of them! I couldn’t tell you what was what on a picture, I tend to crop a lot. I always have this dread, that I will break my camera and I will be doomed to use the little camera from now on. Sorry your lens is broken, I’m sure that can’t be a cheap item to replace. 😦

  15. I’m sorry about the lens, but the shots are beautiful and crisp.

  16. I’m so sorry about your lens! I know I would be devastated! I thought the automatic focus was broken on my camera and I was in tears. Took it to the camera store and come to find out my hubby was playing with the camera and changed one of the settings on the camera to ‘al servo’ which is used mostly to catch action… it is constantly trying to focus but when I was trying to focus one on thing that wasn’t moving, it didn’t focus. The guy at camera store found the problem in less than a minute and just gave me a look like yah… and you want to be a photographer…lol. I felt like an idiot. thankfully, my issue was easy to fix. Hope you have some good news when you take it to the store! keep us posted.

  17. Many times when I look at picture, I imagine how that picture would be if it were a jigsaw puzzle. Your sunrise/sunset pictures are always spectacular! I particularly like picture #2 above, but don’t think I would enjoy putting together a jigsaw puzzle made of this shot. It would definitely be a challenge.

  18. You won’t hear my complain! Beautiful shots.

  19. They look beautiful! I have one lens, from a camera I describe in these technical terms ~ lightweight! : )

  20. The photos are just gorgeous. I’m with you in reference to the amateur, nontechnical language. Your pic’s, however, are of professional quality.
