Sunset Sunday

Last Saturday evening found Motor Man and me on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. After dinner, we went in search of the perfect spot to watch the sunset.

We found it – overlooking the Roanoke Sound, the body of water separating the Outer Banks from Roanoke Island.

This little sailboat is just waiting for warmer weather. It, as well as the cottage in the distance, seemed to glow in the light of golden hour.

This was different from my normal sunset pictures; seafoam isn’t part of our sunsets at home.

A sunset by the sea: the perfect after-dinner show.

  1. Beautiful shots! The waves and the setting sun do make for a different view for you, don’t they? You certainly hope you don’t get rough waves in the river!

  2. Oh how glorious it is to be by the sea to watch the sunset…..love the little blue sailboat too. My favorite is the first one but they’re all just beautiful!!

  3. Love these golden hour pictures. I can smell the salt and hear the waves coming in.
Something I’ve wondered about…why are some paint colors with green in them called “seafoam” when seafoam is white and the water blue?

  4. Beautiful Dianna. From that golden hour warm gold color to the beautiful pinks of sunset. Lovely! The seafoam is cool!

  5. Agreed! Nice shots!

  6. Gorgeous pix, Dianna. As I was admiring them, I remembered that I had a dream last night with a sunset in it…I told somebody, “We need a picture of that to show Dianna.” My dreams are a little weird…

  7. The sea and sunset….great combination!

  8. Just lovely! How I wish I were near the sea today.

  9. so pretty – even foamed. 🙂

  10. Magnificent ~ the gold hour light just sets such a mood, doesn’t it? And I continue to enjoy staring at all the shades of all the different colors. ‘perfect after dinner show’…love that line!

  11. The sunset knows no season – it’s just as glorious in the winter.

  12. After years of living in the mountains, I’ve come to love living on the coast. We see the Tongass Narrows from our house, and get some beautiful sunsets too. However, a coast is NOT a beach, and I would love to live in a place that has miles of beach! Lucky you, to live so near this type of scenery! Thank you for sharing, as always! Beautiful! ~ Sheila

  13. The perfect spot! The seafoam is a great touch .. when you sent me one of these that evening, I knew this one would also be a post !

  14. Gorgeous! I love, love, love ocean sunset photos and these are exceptional. And the Outer Banks is such a lovely place to view both. We haven’t been there in a long time, so thanks for ‘taking’ me there for some salty sea air today.

  15. That’s the best kind of after dinner show!
    Beautiful.

The pictures are great as normal. Dianna, I have the answer to your question now. I was on our laptop downstairs when I answered some of your blogs.last week and I had to fill in my details again and I typed in my last name incorrectly. I have now fixed it. Wish I had a better story but that all that happen. Ha Ha 😉

  17. Love the colors and the ocean…..beautiful:)

  18. You certainly found a beautiful spot to view it! There were some pretty good waves. Loved the seafoam “frosting.”

  19. Those are so beautiful, Dianna…I have never been to the Outer Banks~ it looks just breathtaking in your photos.
