Last night, I prepared this post for today. And as I double-checked this morning over at A Rural Journal, where Random Five Friday is hosted, I saw that Nancy is taking a little blogging break over the holidays. Oh well, here are my five random thoughts anyway….!
1.) We had a very nice Thanksgiving. Marshall came for breakfast, then later in the day, we joined Motor Man’s family for a mid-day meal.
2.) I feel like the old”cow’s tail”, but I just recently discovered Shutterfly. What a user- friendly site! (I’ve been ordering Christmas gifts….shhhhh.)
3.) As I was downloading pictures from my camera chip today, I came across this one. Motor Man and I were crossing the little bridge in nearby Rescue, Va one morning last week and noticed how clear and pretty the water was. So we stopped for a picture. Or two. Or ten.
4.) We’re having a few of my former classmates over tonight after dinner. Light refreshments, catching up, reminiscing. (When we’re all together, I usually laugh until my stomach hurts.) I’m making party meatballs, using a recipe I’ve had for over 30 years. Yummy!
5.) I’m planning to start decorating for Christmas this weekend. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was dreading the whole process, but now, for some reason, I’m looking forward to it!
Your (random) thoughts today?
~These Days Of Mine~
This picture is one of my favorites!! It’s a shame Sundae was camera-shy! I know you’ll enjoy your get-together tonight.
Nothing like a party to get you in the Christmas spirit. Have fun. Loved the family picture.
What a great recipe. I think GS1 would love these meatballs with his two favorite ingredients, grape jam and catsup.
I was surprised at those ingredients when I first saw that recipe. Hope GS1 likes them: let me know!
I think I am going to make your meatballs for our Family Christmas! We don’t do dinner, we do snack things. Enjoy your party!
Let me know how you like them, Pix. They were pretty popular last night!
love the blues in that water. have fun!
Sounds like a fun weekend! Love the meatball recipe…I’ve done something similar..delicious!
Blurb is another good site for making photo books. Isn’t that a wonderful way to share memories? ~ Sheila
It was a bit of work putting the pictures together, but I think it will be worth it. (I did calendars, rather than photo books…)
One “not so random” thought is that I’d forgotten how yummy those meatballs are….that’s the same recipe I use and they are delish! You’ll have such fun tonight – and I love the photo of you, Sundae, MM and Marshall……the view over the bridge in Rescue is always pretty but that has such “especially beautiful” colors!
Pam
Thanks, Pam. You know that Motor Man is always helping me look for a photo op, and when he spotted the calmness and blue of the water that morning, he immediately pulled over!
What a fun post 🙂 Loved the family photo even though Sundae is hiding – precious!
I make a similar sauce for meatballs but all that’s in it is 1 jar grape jelly and 1 jar of bbq sauce – equal amounts – over meatballs – Yum!
Have fun tonight 🙂
MJ
So glad you participated in RFF yesterday, MJ! We had a small group last night – only 4 in addition to MM and me. But it was fun, and we “made a dent” in those meatballs!
I think the picture is better BECAUSE Sundae’s doing that ! It got a good laugh out of us right before the camera snapped …. & I remember these meatballs; and I remember not liking them before… but I think I might have to give them another shot 😉
I love the pictures of the old recipe card. The style, and the wear and tear, tell a story about a special recipe.
That recipe card and I go back a long way, Sheryl…!
The family pic is great, even with Sundae hiding. The river was so blue, love it and old recipes are always good. Have fun tonight!
Oh, this brings back memories. My very first scenic photo with my brand new Canon A-1 SLR (film) camera, at sunrise.
I’m glad you snapped that (those) photos over the river. Lovely! Sundae seems to know what that flash is all about, can’t blame her for hiding from it. And, I thought you didn’t cook. 😉
Only occasionally, Patti! Every once in awhile, I drag out an old recipe!
what an awesome picture of you with those handsome boys!!
your meatballs sound interesting and really yummy. i am going to try them!!
