Sunday evening, in our travels, Motor Man and I happened upon a man who was on his way to deliver this old truck to its new owners.
It had been bought at an auction the day before in a town about an hour from us.
It’s a 1929 Ford Model A pick-up truck. This is the back license plate.
And this is the front. I tend to think this plate might be the original.
It even has a spare tire!
No frills here.
This old truck caught my eye right away. It was even more interesting to me when I discovered that it was a 1929 model: that’s the year my parents were married. (I, of course, came along MANY years later.)
We were told the new owner paid $8,000 for this sweet little ride. I can’t imagine how much it will cost to restore, but I’m betting it will be a beauty when it’s done.
If only she could talk…

I love seeing old cars and wondering what “their” history might be. We see tons of them every year at Carlisle’s car shows…..this one has a lot of restoration work ahead of it but it sure will SHINE when it does!

What a treat!! And extra special that it was that particular model year.
Someone has a real prize!
Oh it is a neat one!! That was the year my mom was born so I think that date is pretty special, too. I bet she is going to be a beauty when she is all restored!
What a treasure!! THanks for sharing!
You do find the most interesting things. What a beauty!
Note no air bags or seat belts. Good thing they didn’t get up too much speed on those country roads back in the day. Fun post, Dianna!
A very cool pick-up! Love to see it after its restoration!
oh, that is fabulous! good luck, old truck!
What a wonderful find – and to think it still has the 1929 license. What are the odds of that? This looks like a great opportunity for a before and after blog, if you know the new owner.
I can’t imagine the stories it could tell!
& it could be a beauty one day… again …. 🙂
How cool is that? I can only imagine what it will look like when it’s restored to its former beauty.
It was a grand vehicle in it’s day and I bet will be again! I bet JR enjoyed seeing it.
Too bad you can’t show the after photos…bet it will be stunning when it’s restored! ~ Sheila
That’s a great find!
