If you’re fortunate enough to have a sister, you know what a special relationship it can be. (I know, in some families, there are “sister issues”, but that’s never been the case with my sister, June, and me.) To honor June today – on her birthday – I’m sharing this little saying about sisters:
She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities.
She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway.
She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion,
someone who knows when you are smiling, even in the dark.
She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent,
even your shrink.
Some days, she’s the reason you wish you were an only child.

I’m chuckling at myself. When I read the headline as it showed up in e-mail, I assumed this was a post about the uncommonly warm temperatures we’ve been experiencing like the month June. So I’m digging the surprise that it’s about your sister. Have fun celebrating with her.
What a lovely little sisterly tribute to June! You two remind me of my sister Carol and me. Love the photos of old and new…..some things never change – the love you have for each other shines through in both photos. You’ve been a joy in my life since the first day we brought you home and I sat beside your bassinette afraid someone would come to take you back!! (For those who don’t know, this wasn’t a child’s fear…I was 15 yrs old at the time!!)
You forgot to mention, in the first picture, I was pregnant with your first nephew…made you an aunt when you were not quite 3 yrs old.

Such a sweet tribute to your sister on her birthday! I have two older sisters who mean the world to me, so I know exactly how you feel about yours. Hope you both had a lovely day celebrating.
My sister and I aren’t as close as many, but we aren’t estranged, either. But I have to laugh at the last line there. At one point my younger sister told my Mom that she wished she were an only child. My Mom had to explain that if there were an only, it wouldn’t have been my sister.
June’s love for you is so obvious in this picture! My sister is 6 1/2 years older than I am; I think I was a real pest to her. We don’t see each other very often but I like to think we’re good friends.

I love this! You two look so much alike, both very beautiful ladies. I have been watching White Christmas off and on a number of times this week and have had the song “Sisters, Sisters” in my head ever since and this post will help to keep it there:) Happy belated B-Day to June!!

Sisters are great – my sister, Judy, and I weren’t that close when we were growing up. There is a nine-year difference and two brothers between us, but we are very close now and rely on each other so much. I’d be lost without her.
